Bell Vortex Helmet

Even though it may be the little brother to the Star, the Bell Vortex is the farthest thing from being a push over in the family line. Built to give up little in the way of comfort and options, the Vortex shares a range of features with the high-end Star such as Velocity Flow Ventilation™ with FlowAdjust™ and the ClickRelease face shield. The race bred designed lightweight shell gives a sleek, slippery shape that allows for unmatched stability at speed and on the inside, contoured cheek pads and a plush removable comfort liner finish it off to give you a complete package at a killer price.

Features:
  • Velocity Flow Ventilation™ system with FlowAdjust™ for maximum stability and temperature control with minimal noise and buffeting
  • Lightweight composite polycarbonate alloy shell
  • Contour cheek pads (by means of stacked foam, not hand cut)
  • Removable and washable, antibacterial/antimicrobial interior comfort liner
  • Padded wind collar to drastically reduce wind/road noise
  • Integrated speaker pockets for audio speakers
  • ClickRelease™ for the fastest, easiest, tool-free shield swaps ever
  • NutraFog II™ superior anti-fog, anti-scratch and UV protected shield
  • Padded chin strap with D-ring closure and strap keeper
  • Five-year warranty
  • Certification: Snell, DOT

**Note: Helmet shown with optional tinted shield. Clear shield included.

I bought the matte black helmet in size medium. Fit great. Looked great. Loved the magnet. Quick lock is awesome. However, the shield did not close all the way. Put on the dark smoke shield I bought and had the same issue. Sent it back. I'll stick with HJC. I didn't ride with the helmet so take this review for what its worth.

Good for the price, but some drawbacks

I got this as my winter helmet, and for what I paid, I think it's a good value for a Snell approved helmet. It has a few problems however: can't accomodate sunglasses; noise and rattles (vents); controls for vents are not intuitive - can't manipulate with gloves on; silly magnet to hold shin strap slack (comes apart at speed). Overall, it's fine for what I need it for. However IMO it is not a good all year round helmet, as the noise and bad ergonomics will wear on you over time.

I bought my girlfriend this helmet for Xmas. Great look, fit and features, can't comment on airflow. Disappointed to learn it won't fit in topcase with mine as others did. Otherwise excellent.

Perfect price point for those wanting Snell and DOT approved helmet, compatible with photochromatic shield (which is a great enhancement). Helmet is high quality in fit and appearance. Sizing is perfect. Airflow controls a little hard to read with gloved fingers but may just need getting used to. Does not accommodate glasses very well due to liner snugness. Overall very pleased.

Absolutely love everything about this helmet. The wind noise is the only bad thing about it so I just wear ear plugs, problem solved.

Reviews are accurate but there are a few things to consider. First, this thing is huge compared to my Scorpion helmet because its about 1cm bigger in diameter all the way around. Second, its noisy because there are vent ports right next to your ears. If you cover the vents with a piece of tape, it reduces wind noise drastically. During the summer ill prob remove the tape and just ride with earplugs. Third this helmet is a lil heavy and can make your neck sore depending on your riding style.

DOT and Snell approved, Great looking helmet, flows a ton of air but without being ridiculously loud, Medium fit my little head perfect, unbelievable value for a quality lid, easy to install helmet speakers, lining is simple to remove and wash or replace if needed, changing from my day to night face shield is literally a snap, aerodynamically stable. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this helmet to anyone looking for a full face dome.

Great helmet for price but fits TOO TIGHT!

Purchased a 2XL and it was still too tight. Make sure you get your right size.

I just took a 1600 mile trip with this helmet and it was great. The airflow is the best I have experienced with a helmet. I usually wear a 3/4 helmet, but if you need a full face this is a good buy. I normally wear a large, but I needed a XL in this model.
