I did a lot of research and tried on a lot of helmets. Now after riding with the Scorpion 400 I can say it was money well spent. I’m not a full face rider but wanted a little more for the winter. The Scorpion fits better right off than any of the many I tried and the materials seem top quality. Also the fog free face shield works! I don't think you can find a better helmet spending even much more money. And talking to the Scorpion folks on the phone... they back their products 100%. Try it... yo

This is the best helmet I've owned in thirty plus years of riding. It is very comfortable fit and Snell approved. For the money you can't go wrong. I also own the EXO-200 open face for use in summer. This is also a great helmet for those who don't want the full coverage. Both have easy to use faceshields that don't fog and stay in place when in any open position. This is great for additional ventilation on the full face.

This helmet is very good looking, and flows through the air very smoothly. I have used it in temps from 33F to 98F and the No-Fog shield works like a champ. I also like how easy it is to remove the shield. Good design, good price. Big thumbs up!!

Helmet is awesome. Original order was on 5/28, received 6/20. Had to send back for returns and got two sizes larger. Scales for helmet not correct, add 2 sizes no matter what. Return was simple but form said they would return money and create a new order for larger size without any interaction from customer. Waited 1 week and 4 days and heard nothing. Had to call and they needed 3 digit # from credit card to place other order. Hmmmm...How long did they have the return in the first place before I called? Never will know because when 'they' read this it will never make it to the 'review' site / comments anyway. So the other order for the larger size was entered and received helmet on 7/10/2008. So, if you have 1-2 months to wait for an awesome helmet then get this Scorpion - EXO-XXX from this site.

This is my second EXO 400. I ordered an XL this time and it fits perfectly. My experience is that the EXO 400's run a little smaller than the EXO 700's (I have both). I think these helmets offer exceptional value for this price. I can see no real difference from helmets costing 2 aand 3 times as much, and I have owned them all!

I purchased the Matte Black version of this helmet. I could not be happier. The fit is awesome and the shield is equally great. I've driven in all different riding conditions and have had no problem with it fogging up at all. (Just don't use Windex or any other non-approved cleaning solution to clean shield)) It is very comfortable even after long hauls. Great ventilation too. This is a wonderful product and I highly recommend it.

Fit was perfect. Ordered one size larger than chart suggested after reading other reviews. The liner will give you fish lips until the foam liner compacts, but once it does it gives a snug but comfortable no-wobble fit. Love the features. The accessory reflective trim kit is a great safety addition that looks good too. I've owned Bell and Shoei helmets and found the quality to be comparable. I'm very satisfied and would recommend this helmet to anyone looking for a reasonably priced, well built, and cool looking skid-lid.

Just tested this helmet out yesterday. I absolutely love this helmet. The aerodynamics are superb in that at high speeds, the helmet (and head) are perfectly stable-no forceable twisting due to high air flow. This must have been designed in a wind tunnel. Fit is excellent: snug without excess pressure on the sides of the face. Ended up getting an X-large as every manufacturer is different. The black matt finish and helmet design look great. At high speeds, the noise level is moderate, however, I use ear plugs anyway so in some ways it does not matter. Price was great for what I needed. Helmet was very comfortable without being too loose. DOT/SNELL approved is a plus. The antifog feature has not been evaluated yet. The incorporated nose/breath deflector should go a long way to minimizing fog development inside the shield area. Motorcycle Superstore was excellent to deal with as the helmet arrived in record time. I would deal with this store in the future. Although not long term tested, at this point I would highly recommend this helmet.

All I have is tiny cut on my forehead, no neck damage and I am not very sore today either. I am blessed to be alive and thankful for my Scorpion helmet. As I move on and update my riding gear I will be purchasing another Scorpion helmet.

This is an awesome helmet. It fits awesome, the airflow is very good and you will be glad for it on summer days. Also being able to close off the air flow works great for cold weather when you need to stay warmer. Motorcycle Superstore is the best place to buy anything you need. They are always running specials that will save you a ton of money. If you aren’t sure about the fit of any item I suggest going to a local store, trying a few items on, and then coming here to get it. much cheaper.

This helmet is very sexy aesthetically and seems very durable. The size is one size smaller than helmets normally are, so adjust accordingly. The most amazing thing about this helmet though is that it doesn't fog! I used this helmet during freezing temperatures in the middle of winter and have not seen any fog. I have even cleaned the visor many times and it still retains it's anti-fogginess. I suspect it has to do with the little ridge which covers your nose a little. Also there are plenty of vents for air circulation.

I bought this to replace my Shoei helmet after the visor bolt on that helmet broke. Compared to the Shoei, this helmet is just as comfortable and fits a little bit better on me. I think it has slightly more noise than the Shoei at high speeds, but it's negligible. Best thing about it: out of the box it's VERY anti-fog. My Shoei helmet, which was significantly more expensive, fogged up constantly. I definitely would recommend this helmet!

It did its job great I landed headfirst and walked away! It's a little snug out of the box (mostly the neck roll) but give it a week or two to break in. The venting is great and the anti-fog has worked for me down to 34*F. The helmet can be noisy at highway speeds I recommend buying the chin skirt accessory.

This is a great helmet -- inexpensive, but with good features, and the look is really sharp. No real bells or whistles, but it's solidly constructed and for under $150 it has everything you need (including SNELL 2010!). I have the matte black and it's a beautiful product -- clean and simple. I wear a small, and it's very snug, but feels secure and the pads are adjusting to my head shape. No fogging so far.

Features DOT and Snell approval, great ventilation, noise cancellation, secure closure & fog-repelling finish on inside visor. Four (4) on Durability because outside visor finish has flaked a tiny bit. As noted, order a size up for a SNUG fit and two sizes up for an easy fit. I'm an XS and ordered an S in red which is a true rich red. Even has a cool looking logo. Careful wiping down inside visor; this surface has a slightly sticky finish and traps lint. I would absolutely buy this again.

Despite the warnings, I ordered a L. I have 2 other helmets, one M and one L, so I figured it'd be OK. Wrong: So tight it was unwearable, so I sent the L back and got the XL, which fits perfectly. Out the $6.99, but I guess I was warned.
The helmet itself is amazing. It's much lighter than my 2007 HJC, which is nice on longer rides. It looks fantastic (esp. w/the added dark smoke shield) and is extremely well ventilated. Excellent value for the $; just be warned on sizing.

I thought it was a good price for Snell helmet and I liked the look of it. I got it in Gray to add a bit of color. The sizing chart was 2 sizes off for me but since I returned it once I did not want to mess with it again with the riding season coming quickly so I figured the pads would wear down after a while anyway and loosen up. Good helmet and fairly priced. You can feel the support in the padding and helmet. Seems to be good quality but will not know till I ride a while longer.

I purchased this helmet to ride on my Versys instead of wearing my Shoei Hornet DS. It is very quiet and fits very well. My Shoei is a Large so I went with an XLarge based on reviews and I'm glad I did.
Only reason I gave it a 4 on fit is the plastic nose piece hits my nose sometimes and I don't think I have a big nose. So I pull it back and it stays for a while. Not a huge distraction but seems it could be fixed with less of a bend inward to it. Fast shipping of course!

I didn't answer the "Durabilty" since I've only had it a little over a month. I had a lot of helmets (since 1965) and this is the best fitting one ever (head is oval long from f/r). I like these features: Washable liner; Fog free shield (works great) ; Tall nose guard; Last but for sure not the least is that it's also the quietest helmet ever for me (one that came close was an Arai).
One thing I wish they had added is a chin cover for the 30° or less rides.... although a buff pulled up from around my neck works well...
NOTE: It won't let me submit without answering all questions so I'll guess with a 4 (worked on pilot’s helmets in the service).

A great helmet for a first time buyer. Slightly lower marks for durability because the paint scratches easily, low marks for features because there's quite a bit of draft inside the helmet even when all the vents are closed. I haven't taken it out in dusty conditions yet but I'm sure that draft will effectively cause dust to get in. But all in all a great helmet for the price.

Good helmet. Sent the first one back as it was too small. The second one still gave me fish lips, but I liked the no fog visor enough to think about it. Hey, whaddya know, you can disassemble the helmet. I spent some time sculpting the various foam cheek pieces and now it fits great. I’m riding scooters these days so I don’t know that a high ticket helmet would offer any better safety at low speeds. Having said that a friend dropped by and let me ride his 748 Ducati yesterday. Wow - What an incredible experience. The only helmet I had around the shop was my old Arai. Having not worn it since I bought the Scorpion, I noticed the Scorpion feels like a safer helmet, probably because it’s newer and more snug. I’d buy another Scorpion and feel good about it. (if you haven’t bought a new helmet in a while one of these is probably better than what you’re riding with today. Go for it. )

Great helmet. Best I have ever owned. Fit great out of the box. Face shield has very minimal distortion. Head and shoulders better than the Bell I returned. MC Superstore gave me no grief returning the other helmet, refunded my money quickly. I will buy from these folks again when the time comes. I could have bought the same model helmet with all the kid racer graphics for far cheaper. But I like the solid better. Hence the 3 on cost benefits. I have no idea on the durability, but w/ a 3 year warranty, I am sure that this helmet will last a good long time.

Helmet fits very well, and its very comfortable. Main complaint is that it is NOT very fog resistant at all, unless it is a nice sunny warm day. For a year round rider, this happens not that often in the PNW. One visor click up is about an inch, and it directs wind directly into your pupils, so its either deal with the fogged visor or deal with the wind in your eye. or wear glasses under your visor. I will probably buy something else next time for these reasons alone.
Most definitely best bang for your buck.

Ample space around the ear cavity, great resistance to fog, aero-dynamic, and low wind noise. I was skeptical for the price, because my Fiance ordered the AFX-90 helmet and it whistled like crazy and wasn't Snell approved. This helmet was Snell approved. I've never been so impressed by a low cost helmet such as this. Scorpion is a quality product, I must say. Oh, my last helmet, before it was stolen was a M, I ordered a L due to other reviews and it fit perfect. Great helmet.

Overall, not a bad helmet. At nearly four pounds, it's a bit heavy for me. The glare on the inside of the faceshield can get pretty bad, and the outside scratched up pretty quickly (I don't have a windshield on my bike. So, certainly that contributes). The face shield is easy to switch out once you get the hang of it.

It's a good helmet for the money. Feels safe. Good features like interchangeable visor and linings. Fits well, but keep in mind that Scorpion helmets are usually smaller than others. So I am usually a large, but had to go with the XL with this one. Finish is good, not as good as a Shoei, but then those are a couple hundreds more expensive. These are made in China. I am happy, but will upgrade to a Shoei RF1100 when I've got the money.

Great helmet. I have an EXO-1000 in 2xl but it's a bit tight. This is the only Scorpion full face I could find in 3xl. Wish it would come in 3xl. Under the chin is open which gives extra airflow, that's nice for summer. Going to try and stick with Scorpion products, so far very happy with it.

This is a great helmet for the price. I was looking for a quality helmet that fit well but didn't cost too much. I am very happy with this one. I did go with a bit larger helmet than I had before because of other reviews and I'm glad I did because the XXL fits perfect. I would buy another one anytime.
Nice Helmet for price.

Pros: This is a nice helmet for the price , can not beat that fact. Low noise (no whistle on shield area unless you have your head turned 90degrees). Seal around shield is good (better than most helmets). I got the Aero Skirt for EXO 400 greatly reduces air and air noise around chin area great value. In the Texas sun being able to swap out the tinted shield is so easy with their system and shield locks in very well also. Shield vent work well. Rear exhaust vent works well BUT could move a little more air flow for TX heat. Front vent seems to work well. Shield does not fog up like most other helmets I have worn(so they were right about that).
Cons: Those little flip up vent on the side of the front main vent are poor, they don’t open all the way, might be just fault of just my helmet. The air vents when they come thru the helmet are drilled holes, they should have fluted them.
Size: I ordered one size larger than they spec'ed for (most people have said that, they are right). Cheek pads take time to form to your face, so they will be a little tight at first.

I’ve been riding with this helmet for about 4 months now and I only have small complaints. I like to ride with the shield up and sunglasses on but there is no gap for the glasses arms so they get pressed against my temples and after a while the pressure gets to me. The top of head pad has three ridges which gives me really messed up helmet hair, but I put a piece of foam up in there which helped out a bit. It does not have great aerodynamics, my head gets pushed around some, most when looking over the shoulder. The fabric on the bottom 3 pads is starting to fray a bit but looks like it will be fine for while. Other than that the helmet has good venting, good anti fog, looks good, you can take off the big silver S on the front, and changing shields is quick and easy.

Fit is incredible. Went 8 hours of continuous wear on the road on the first day of ownership. No headaches or other common complaints. Merely took it off and noticed nothing different. That being said, moisture tends to get on the inside of the visor during rainy weather, so be careful how you set the vents. I plan on trying out the scorpion aero skirt to see if that helps mitigate this. I got the matte black and have had problems with light scratches on the finish by leaving it on the helmet holder on the bike. Further damage has been caused by just putting it down on the top, leading to minor, but noticeable, pits in the finish. Vents seem to work well enough, and I've never found myself uncomfortably hot when on the highway. Weight is a bit greater than some other helmets, but given its DOT and Snell certification for a very reasonable price, its hard to argue against that. Finally, the visor release mechanism feels and sounds pretty bad and I am just waiting for the mechanism to break. Removable lining, decent features, comfort, fit, and great visibility mean I will use this helmet for a long time.
Excellent bargain...

I researched helmets quite a bit before I bought this one. The EXO-400 is a polycarbonate helmet, this means it does a better job at absorbing impact as compared to a costlier, Kevlar helmet. The downside? It's heavier, and I'd say in a noticeable manner.
One other huge advantage - it simply does not fog. Admittedly I've used this only in the warmer months, but it does get pretty cool in the mornings where I live (think mid 50s).
Overall, I highly recommend this product.

Finish, durability and features are excellent as indicated. The fit, as mentioned in other reviews is way small, I was in a Large Fulmer, the Large Scorpion had to be exchanged for an XL and I am hoping the liner compresses some so as to not cut off the blood supply to my brain..LOL. Otherwise, the fog free shield is great but until you change the shield a couple of times it's not as easy as stated.

Helmet fits perfect. I am medium size therefore it fit snug without squishing my ears. Does not come with dark shield so you have to order one separately. Other than that looks great, fits great, not too noisy, features are ok, ventilation could be better but it would increase the noise, therefore vents are good. The changing of shields is fast and easy, lift up the shield snap off and snap the new one back in. A+

I like the style and air flow when vents are open. The helmet runs small compared to other helmet manufacturers. I also bought a medium Bell helmet at the same time and it fit better than the large Scorpion, had to get X-Large.

The ups are it fits and feels good now. It looks very good and feels of high quality. It is quieter than my Shoei X-11. I got the matte black with light smoke shield, and I think it is pretty cool with my XR1200. I recommend it highly, especially when on sale!

Its a solid helmet with all the best safety ratings as other higher priced models. It's Basic because it's not bike specific, meaning it can be worn on a sport bike or a cruiser, there is no style differentiation. It's applicable in situations others are not because A) it can be worn while riding a cruiser. B) at night the lens change is extremely easy, four full seconds and I’ve changed the visor from black to clear. C) I wear ear buds when I ride, (think iPod headphones). Unlike other helmets this helmet seemed to have ample room around the ears while maintaining its snug fit around the head. Overall I don’t know why you would spend more on a helmet, this is my third Scorpion Exo 400, and two are still in use. They are VERY durable, well made, simple and well vented. I especially like the matte finish helmet as not to many helmet manufactures offer this finish. The interior is soft and plush.

This is my second EXO-400. Fit is excellent for narrow oval head. (As a comparison, KBCs also fit me; Icons do not fit me at all.) The build quality and finish of the helmet & liner are excellent, but I am knocking it on Finish and Features because the visor is flimsy and will not stay up unless all the way up. I replaced it with the sturdier visor from my old helmet. Even with the better visor, you can't just crack the helmet open--the first stop is pretty far open. Venting is not so great, but somehow that never bothers me. No fogging problems for me.
Another major difference from my first EXO 400 is that this one is MUCH lighter. My first was made in 2005 and this one in 2006, according to the sticker inside. It is so much lighter that I wonder if there was some significant difference in materials or construction. (looks identical, though)

This helmet has a nice snug fit. So if you give the correct helmet size it will fit perfect. I have worn the helmet maybe 5 to 10 times since I purchased it. The only complaint I have had is that it seems to me that you get a little glare off of the shield from on-coming traffic. Other than that for the price I would recommend this to everyone.

A great value. Ventilation is good, and it's much quieter than my more expensive HJC. BEWARE of the sizing chart - the EXO is at least two sizes smaller than the chart will say. In other words, if the chart says you need a L, you'll really need a XXL. I had to return mine and though I measured correctly according to the chart I'm out the $7 shipping.

Want fish lips? Then buy the Scorpion. The helmet was great except for the fit around the cheeks. I ordered a medium (which fit my head fine) but it gave me fish lips from the pads poking into my cheeks. Later I tried a large at a motorcycle show with the same results.

This is my second Scorpion helmet of the same type. The first one was fine; it just got old. This on has no ventilation. All the little doo-dads are there on the outer parts but I don't think the inner and outer vents are connected internally. I'll have to modify it myself as it will cost seven bucks to return it for another one that will probably have the same problems. Poor quality control.

Like other cheap helmets, the shield will not stay cracked open which is where I want it. The "anti-fog" shield just makes the fog bead up rather than fog. Neither are easy to see through, but fog is quicker to disperse. The mouth guard keeps your breath off the shield well. The cover over the rear vent is attached with sticky tape. It shifted out of position when my rear case closed on it and I can't get it back in place. Overall it's fine but I will probably look elsewhere for my next one.

I've had this helmet for 2 years now. It was my first. It's held up well and still looks good but has its down sides. First of all it is really heavy. Second the vents don't work at all. I can't feel any difference with the vents open or closed. I'm looking for a new one and it won't be a scorpion.

I have had this helmet for about 2 months now. I love this helmet! It is fantastic! Although only 2 months into my own evaluation, I find the fit is perfect, the color great, and above all the aerodynamics are excellent. Unlike my Harley helmet, this Scorpion helmet stabilizes my head at high speed and does not move my head around even in windy conditions. It must have been designed in a wind tunnel! Fogging is minimal--although not into the cool fall months. Sound is minimal. Considering the technology that went into this helmet, the price was great! Motorcycle-Superstore was also great to work with--good deals, prompt service, great follow through, good communication---I would do business with them again.
