Very comfortable & wet

I ride a R1200GS ADV. Wore these boots on trip to Alaska. Extremely comfortable and easy to walk in. Unfortunately they are NOT waterproof. Had discussion with Gaerne and they promptly exchanged for new pair. Very good customer service. Put a bead of silicone on top of stitching from front to arch. Road to eastern Canada. Less leaking, but still damp feet, particularly on left foot. Electric socks saved the day. Now riding in Sidi Adventure boots and no problems to date.

NOT WATERPROOF

Got these boots because a buddy said they were awesome. Spent the extra bucks b/c I knew I'd want and need the waterproof qualities this version had over other variants. Took a trip to the Swiss-Austrian-Italian Alps last week. Rained probably 6 of the 13 days we were riding. The front half of both of my feet were completely soaked on each of these days. Luckily I had thick socks for the first few days so at least my wet feet were warm...still wet. In the latter days, I ran out of heavy socks so my feet were cold (and wet) taking much of the enjoyment out of the riding we were doing. Best part about wet boots is taking them off and putting on dry socks at the end of a 9 hour riding day. Next best part...putting the wet boots back on the next morning because you have another 9 hours to ride. I think they look cool. They have great traction with the gummy sole. THEY ARE NOT WATERPROOF!! For $300+ I'd expect a better boot. Both of the guys in the group riding Sidis had no issues. Feet warm and dry. One guy's were several years old. If I can get my money back from Gaerne, I'll be buying Sidi's. Otherwise, these will be an expensive pair of dry wx only adventure boots - which obviously doesn't work. wha whaaaaaaa.

Leather too soft, not durable

These oiled leather boots look cool, and are very soft, and comfortable. But, the leather is so soft that it scratches and gouges very easily. After just two rides around town, there are significant, deep scratches and gouges in the leather from rubbing against parts on the bike (foot pegs, exhaust shields). Nice boots, otherwise, but I DO NOT recommend the oiled leather finish, suggest traditional black, instead.

Good choice

These boots are, in my opinion a perfect Dual Sport boot. Do not expect them to be as protective as a full on motocross boot but that's not their intended purpose. Extremely comfortable when new, break in period is a non-event. Pretty simple... If your an easy riding dual-sporter, true on/off road they offer good protection and are a good choice. If you are an off-roader that should be wearing full protection, well buy yourself some true moto boots.

Lacks Heel

Right out of the box very comfortable fit, no break in with this soft leather boot. Sizing is good. Great boot to walk around in. First boot I have that does not have a heel and it seems to make a difference in the peg to shifter clearance (size 11). Have 2 other boots more motocross style with heels and have no problem. I am ordering pegs with 1/2" offset to help out. With saying that the comfort level of these boots is so good you will not get tired of wearing them. Plus they look great.

So far so good

True to size. Look great and feel good. We'll see how they hold up over time; for the money they better last.

Comfort and Support

These have been my boot for the Washington, Oregon, Utah, Colorado and Arizona BCDR's plus many more shorter rides. Only after the Utah and Colorado back to back rides did I have a problem with serious boot odor. A few dryer sheets and then Odor Eaters did clear it up. Looking quite sad after 6 years of riding but looking forward to several more. Will replace with another of same.

Comfortable leather boots

Best boots around- much better than the plastic fantastics! They are very comfortable and the fit is spot on.

Great boot....but...

This boot is the best on the market for comfort and style. Wear with a pair of jeans and ride your cruiser on the street. There is not much protection for track or trail riding, even trail riding you need ankle protection. Buy a can of oil to oil often to keep them waterproof and looking new.

NOT WATER PROOF

I recently submitted a very good review for these boots, I liked them so much I bought a pair for my wife. Well it finally rained here in California. We took a ride and ended up riding in the rain for 2 hours, when we got home, we both had 2 wet feet. We both have water proof pants, so the water didn't come over the top, actually we where dry everywhere but our feet.

They leak

As other reviewers noted, they leak at the front part of the sole. This is unacceptable for a product advertised as waterproof. They are soft, warm and comfortable however.

First Impression

The boots were for my wife. She said they felt great first time wearing them. She walked around with them at home all day and said she could go hiking with them. She likes the old style look to them. The fit is bang on. I know they are expensive, but from the first impressions they are worth it. I'll give you an update later after a ride or two.

Not waterproof

I've been wearing these boots every day for the past 3 months. I'm pleased with the boot except for one major defect - They're NOT waterproof. Contrary to what the product page and reviews say, after 4 hours riding in heavy rain, the bottom front part of my foot gets wet. The top part of my foot is dry, indicating this is not an issue with water leaking through the top of the boot. Water is leaking through the leather / boot itself, and makes for cold feet and an uncomfortable ride pretty quick.

Awesome Boots

These boots are great, love em. The perfect balance between street and off road. I use them for dual sport, adventure riding, and street riding. Theyre warm in the cold, theyre water proof, they breathe, they get a little hot in hot weather or if you walk in them, any boot will. Comfortable enough to walk or even a short hike, easy to put on.

Wow, nice boot

Perfect boot for Enduro riding. Heat and put Sno Seal on them to waterproof. I wish the tread was deeper. I really like this boot.
