Bluetooth Chatterbox

Outstanding. Only one ding is that the noise level within the helmet makes using my mobile phone rather pointless, but I am riding anyway so who has time to talk. The bluetooth connection to my mp3 player and the control over the mp3 works flawlessly. I have an IPod Touch and I uses the ICombi AP21 adapter with it.

Tech Help

Everyone wants high quality mics that work at high speed, unfortunately many don't know how the technology works. If anyone is experiencing low volume transmission it's because the mics need to be as close to the lips as possible. If you have to throw your voice inches into a mic, by the time it gets to the mic the volume is reduced. Therefor the mic assumes the voice is background noise and will reduce it. Try placing the mic almost if not touching the lips.

Chatterbox Bluetooth

I have been using the Chatterbox units since the first gen. They have came a long way since they started. Until you have used these units for a while the VOX make some people down the units. But TRUST me it works well. My wife and I talk to each other just like we are sitting in the family room at the house, and we both have aftermarket exhaust.I have rode in a group of as many as 6 and we all chatted fine. If you are using a high output mp3 or zune or Ipod you will have NO problem hearing the music. Only the cheep low output $30 mugs you will have a hard time hearing. Been there done that. The ONLY downfall this unit has is that from time to time when you hit the button used for answering the phone it won’t pick up. Be patient and learn how to use the unit and you will like it.

Bluetooth GMRS X1 Chatterbox

I have none of the problems mentioned in other reviews. Most of the people I ride ATVs with have these. They're invaluable for keeping groups together and updated on trail conditions and traffic. We use PTT. With MX helmets VOX picks up too much wind and engine noise. Bluetooth works flawlessly for my MP3 player. It took a little adjusting to get the volume right. The MP3 battery goes dead long before the Chatterbox battery. Chatterbox has excellent customer service if there is ever a problem with the unit.

Nice Units

These are great just make sure your helmet is quiet enough....I have a new RF-100 and can barely hear my wife on the other end...and I am on a Ducati...the push-to-talk is great!

communication

Works great, just need to work on the Bluetooth part. Can’t hear that good when using the phone; volume does not get loud enough. But communication with other chatterboxes is great.

Great product...once again!

This is my 3rd Chatterbox over the years and I still love the product. Easy to install...easy to operate also. I have the Bluetooth slim model and love it. It works great with my iPod so no problems there. The only thing I wish is that I could run my headphones through the unit and still be able to communicate instead of using the headphones that come with it. Other than that...perfect!

no problems here

At first it appeared clumsy but once I have it on I don't notice it at all. Mine paired with my Tom tom 920T GPS. I listen to the MP3 player and road directions clearly. I chat to my riding buddies using FRS/GRS walkie talkie setup. I make phone calls on my pocket PC. I also ordered a separate MP3 player and will eventually plug it into the X1. My only complaint would be, that it does not come with std headphone jack and the after market plug looks retarded with Bluetooth unit.

Good product

My wife and I purchased the X-1. We didn’t install them on the helmet but did try the belt clip. Didn’t like it, too loose on belt. So we purchased a tank bag and slipped them inside. We just completed a 2100 mile ride through NV, AZ, NM, CO and UT. The unit works well considering we drove 600 plus miles a day for 10 hrs.

A good PTT button design would significantly improve this communicator

Voice activation is very hard to set for highway speeds, even with a quality helmet and careful install, wind activates the mic too easily or you have to scream into the mic. Sound quality is decent, much better if you use push-to-talk button. PTT button is a joke, too big and bulky. Velcro mount and it is huge, I can't describe how worthless this button is. I built my own smaller button copied the starcom ptt02 design. Be careful not to over tighten helmet mount or it cracks and you will have to replace, my own fault.

great idea, cool gaget

I like the product a lot, made my life easier and fun despite the down sides. The most inconvenient thing was the battery life. I’m still not sure how long the battery life will last next time I go on a trip. The vox had to be turn down to save battery if use accidently shut it down it was hard to pair it up again. The volume of mp3 was too high or too low. I wish the helmet mount was more secure but next time will mount it on handle bars. I wish there was permanent external power adapter to battery. I still would recommended it.2009 vulcan 900 with htc fuse cell, the other hd streetglide iphone both full face helmet.

GMRS X1

I am not very great with electronics and so it has taken a little time to get the thing set up but I feel very good about my purchase. I have pared my Garmin GPS with the chatterbox and it works really well. I have my own headphones which are the challenger molded fit and I have wired them into the chatterbox. I can hear very well. My friend had one on our last trip and I could hear him well most of the time. When we were traveling next to some high voltage lines I was not able to hear. It was great being able to talk. I have just purchased the bluetooth device to attach to my Ipod. Looking forward to get it setup as well.
