Product Information

Shoei RJ Platinum R Open-Face Helmet

Open face helmets are prized by motorcycle riders for their convenience and field of vision, but rarely are they ever associated with such traits as aerodynamically refined and quietness. Shoei largely bucks the trend with the RJ Platinum R, an open face helmet that really surprises out on the road. The density EPS liner is very nicely padded and while cooling is already excellent, Shoei has still gone ahead and equipped it with adjustable forehead vents. In addition, a removable visor lets you have the option of attaching a face shield for a little more coverage.

Features:
  • Lightweight, Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus (AIM+) shell
  • Shell integrated spoiler
  • Adjustable top intake and rear exhaust vents
  • Dual density EPS liner
  • Snaps for aftermarket shields
  • Fully removable interior
  • Soft and comfortable shock-absorbent liner
  • 3D comfort liner system
  • Removable GT visor
  • Neck Outlet vent
  • Five year warranty
  • DOT and SNELL M2010 approved
  • Shoei products can only be shipped to U.S. customers
  • Item # 1206

RJ Platinum R Open Face

This helmet is great. It does feel tight around the cheeks making you look like a chipmunk. But I would not buy another brand. As a matter of fact my wife also has the same helmet.

Very Nice Helmet

I bought this helmet because I needed a 3/4 design for my headset, so it supplements a 1/2 helmet design I already owned. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it's very lightweight, even lighter than my half helmet. The airflow cooling is also fantastic, so this helmet is easy to wear all day on a long ride. I only have one small complaint, which is that you have to take your sunglasses off to take the helmet off because of the recess on the sides for glasses. It's no big deal, it's just hard to remember.

HELMET

My last helmet was also a Shoei. I was very happy with the fit and comfort of it. The padding and strap were finally wearing out after 5 years. Now with the new platinum helmet I am again very happy with the fit and comfort of it.

High quality at a decent price

I like everything about this helmet. Beautiful finish and nice features for the price on sale. Ordered the same size as my Shoei full-face and it fits me fine. Not too heavy and wind noise is reasonable for an open-face helmet.

RJ Air Platinum R

Fits great and is very light and comfortable. Flows a lot of air through the vent system. What's not to like?

Great Cross County Helmet

I bought this helmet for a cross country trip. The helmet surpassed expectations in fit, comfort and weight. The trip was taken in July in temperatures as high as 115 degrees; covering up to 800 miles a day. The best feature of this helmet was its ventilation system. The helmet served me well on the 5,000 mile plus trip; my hats off to Shoei for a well-made product.

Shoei RJ Air Platinum R Open-Face Helmet

Shoei RJ Air Platinum R Open-Face Helmet was purchased for use on my Harley Street Glide. I got the Sena smh10 Bluetooth Stereo Headset and the RJ Air Platinum R are the perfect mates. Sena's speakers fit into the helmet's recessed area beautifully. The helmet fits well and I've used it in 98 degree F weather and keeps cool with the superior ventilation airflow. This is a great helmet - especially if you use intercom.

Outstanding helmet in every way

I've been wearing this helmet for a year now. I bought it to replace the earlier RJ Air. Like the first one, this helmet is very comfortable, and of the highest quality in fit, finish and materials. It ventilates very well and the visor is excellent for those times of day when the sun is just intolerable. I've ridden cross country and in well over 100* temps with no problem.

A great helmet in every way

I have been wearing this helmet for 7 years, a couple thousand miles a year and find it to be an extremely well fitting and comfortable helmet. At the same time it’s making me feel safer in case of an accident vs. a half helmet that will not stay on very well. It is still good as new. I would not wear another helmet.

Great Helmet

I have found it to be cooler and more comfortable than by old Scorpion half helmet. I left the bike parked in the sun with the helmet on the bike in 95 degree MS weather for 5 hours and then got on it and rode for an hour. When I pulled the helmet off, every hair on my head was dry. I can't believe what great ventilation it has. The cheek pads were tight in the beginning, but it is now breaking in nicely. Also plug for Motorcycle Superstore, they have great customer service.

Perfect

I tried shark helmet and HD helmets before, but this one beats them all. Fits perfect, light. Glasses fit great under the helmet. One of the more important things to me. Very comfortable helmet A+++ and great price to.

Expensive vs. other helmets, but still a great value

This is probably the best open faced helmet out there. Fit, quality, ergonomics, ventilation (when you want it) are all awesome. It is a lot more expensive than other cheap helmets. However, this is a far better value in my opinon. Think of all the time you spend on school, children, your wife. If you like your helmet, you're more likely to wear it. And if you wear it more often, it will be there when you need it.

Shoei, RJ, Platinum, open face helmet

This is really a terrific helmet. I have an old (13 years) Shoei RJ helmet and the inside was falling apart so I decided that it was time to replace it. The first week of ownership I wore this helmet over 20 hours and it just got more and more comfortable as the days went by. Very important to me was the helmets ability to hold my glasses in place without a lot of air blowing around my eyes at 60 mph and this Shoei does that very well.
