Saddlemen Saddle Bags Not As Good As Their Luggage Rack Sissy Bar Bag or Their Back Bag

I just completed a 3,000+ mile trip with these Saddlebags and Sissy Bar Large and Small Bags... All Saddlemen products. The Sissy Bar bags were exceptionally good. The Saddlebags not so much. The Saddlebags arrived with one of them already having the top partially pressed in. I guess something must have been pressing on it at some time. The other bag, which had a flat top upon arrival, eventually starting dipping inward, too. If you are buying bags for looks, then you might want to skip these. Also, the very first day one of the flap snaps popped off. I handled them very carefully after that and did not lose any more. I intend to replace them with something durable. The prior complaining aside, the bags did okay. No serious faults or failures. The front and back Velcro really keeps the bags secure from the wind and weather. I would say the quality of the bag material was quite good. I used Kuryakyn slanted inserts inside the bags to carry my clothes. Good fit. And great carrying convenience if you leave the saddlebags on the bike. They kept my clothes mostly dry during some hellacious rain storms where I got rain penetration of the saddlebags. A couple of the rubber grommets popped out/ vibrated out somewhere along the way. (these are on the inside toward the bike near where the throw over occurs) The throw over had good adjustment for fitting my bike width and did not become loose. The interior pockets on the outside wall were absolutely worthless. They sagged to the bottom of the bag. Would I buy these again? Mixed feelings. I looked long and hard before settling on these for size/appearance. They did stand up to a long trip (the basic bag material and construction was strong) but they require the owner to install better quality latches and a rigid top plate in order to have a good looking functional product for multiple uses.

BR1800 and BR3400 Good Products

These bags have plenty of rings for attaching bungee cords. The adjustable sissy bar mount on the big bag worked well. The bags had plenty of pockets with well thought out access both on the road and when removed. The adjustable top flap for securing a jacket or whatever was a great convenience. The zippers and pulls were all strong and worked without problems. The carry handles were comfortable and strong even with heavily loaded bags. The back rest on the smaller back bag was comfortable. Had several light rains with no leakage with the bare bags. During heavy rains used a waterproof grill cover that fit both bags at once like a custom cover. I would definitely purchase this brand again.

Saddleman Road Sofa Seat

Received the seat and started to put it on. Only came with one bolt, Missing 3 bolts. Went to hardware store matched up the bolt that came with it and bought the other 3 I needed only to find out 2 of the 4 holes were stripped out. Now I have to fix the stripped threads before I can finish installing it.

Bad review

I recently wrote a bad review on the Saddleman seat I purchased for my Triumph America. I would like to resend some of the negative statements I made about this seat. I have since ridden the bike around 500 miles and the seat is getting more and more comfortable. I would still not call it the most comfortable seat I have ever had but I have high hopes for it getting better as I put more miles on it. Jack

Very Nice

I have ridden with the bag and it does fit the space very nicely. The rides were day rides so that I can get used to it being there and figuring out the best way to tie it down. Some of the others were saying it was not waterproof or water resistant. I am lucky that I have a cover from an old bag that I can use, but have not used it yet since I have not hit any decent rain. I am going on a major trip in two weeks. I will use the cover if I need it, but it does limit how I can tie the bag down being the straps on the top will be under the cover.
