Loud and Proud! Sound saves lives.
The Cobra slip-ons install easy and everything lines up nicely. These pipes are higher quality than the originals and the bike is probably 5-8 lbs. lighter.
Improved idle rumble with definite head turning awareness during acceleration as these pipes amplify the full goodness of the 1800cc big twin.
The only ones unimpressed are probably my neighbors...but they can always move.
My only complaint for the V-star 1300 version is that I preferred the stock mounting bracket and bolts better. Otherwise this is a no-brainer add on for your V-star 1300. It makes your motorcycle sound like an actual motorcycle.
I first tried a very inexpensive tuner on my 2008 VTX1800N3. No improvement. I then put a Power Commander IIIusb on. Ran pretty good, especially in the 3rd and 4th gear power bands, but between the cost of the unit and the cost of the dyno tune, and the narrow range of improvement in performanceI didn't feel like I got my money's worth. Bought the FI2000 pro and installed it. The tuner is very inconsistent. Some days it takes over and the bike runs GREAT! other days, you would think someone put dirt in the tank. For a $450-550, frankly, I expect more. I have now installed the same unit on a 2006 VTX1800s, and am convinced it was running better before I put the FI2000 pro on it. Had it too long to return, so I guess it's mine forever. Couldn't feel good about selling it to someone else. I would not recommend it, at least not for a VTX, since that is my only experience with it.
These are the best thing I have installed on our bike for comfort. I can move my feet anywhere and ride in comfort. Because they are big they take a little getting used to. But after three rides I had it down. Love them.
