    Works as advertised

Installed by a shop. I got the closed end set, but the ends were drilled out to keep in bar ends. Must be done carefully because the heating element runs the entire length of the surface of the grip and just lopping off the ends would ruin it. Heat up is instant, because it is insulated from the bar so the heat goes to the hands and isn't conducted to the bar. 2 settings work well. Low is adequate for riding around town and high is good for freeway riding. I used to ride with mittens when riding under 50* now I just need my regular leathers. It cost $100 to get them professionally installed, but that is still much less than purchasing as a factory installed option.

I've had them on my FJR for five years and 50k+ miles. Still working great. I used an aftermarket lighted rocker in place of whatever came in package. I also installed them on five buddies' bikes.

Earlier reviewer on getting two 7/8" diameter grips didn't read instructions

The 401 kit comes with two white bushings, each packed inside of the grips, you have to pull them out, and then you have both grips with a 1" I.D. You use ONE of the white bushings for a motorcycle with 7/8" handlebars and a 1" dia. throttle tube, and if you bought them for an ATV then you use both bushings due to your thumb-throttle arrangement.

Comfort I wish I had attended to many motorcycles ago.

I had the misfortune of laying down my Ducati and wearing thru the end of the grip and severing the heating wire. I wrote to the company (cheap ass that I am) they said that if I pig-tailed the 2 resistance wire ends together and wrapped with tennis-racket rubber tape. Or I could cut off the broken grip, send it in with $12. and get them to ship a new one.

    Hot Grips

The Fit on the 7/8" to 1" was not great. It is a little loose. Read the directions in full before you start, it would have saved me some time. Grips heat up quickly and low and high are easily discernable. A waterproof switch would be nice, or a rubber grommet over it, it looks a bit industrial.

    Before ordering.

Directions say they will drill ends for end bars if requested and they sell an epoxy that is compatible for the application. It would be nice if a heads up was given while ordering. No rating as I have not installed yet.

    Hot Grips

Pay attention to the sizing chart, the one delivered didn't fit my Kaw 900vn, as grip was same size as the bar, not the throttle, I was expecting one grip to be larger to compensate for the throttle sleeve, they were both the same size. There is no return I own it.

    Cheap

They are worth $25. They are hot and heat quickly. I got a pair of Oxford's as a gift and after seeing the quality, I took the HG's off and installed the Oxfords. They are the same price new and the quality is much better than HG's. The Oxfords feel better, heat the same, and look more factory, so go with them. I think the HG's are worth about $25.
