I searched for a while for a good all around sport touring tire. I ride all year round and also do a lot of aggressive riding whenever weather permits. Great tire never slipped away from me in a turn and very controllable while hydroplaning. My feet wanna be tossed off the pegs from the water forcing them off before the tires gives up.

Avon Storm Front Tire
Great tire, good price. Performance and handling characteristics are superb! Excellent turning, grip like glue, inspire great confidence. This tire is said to grip well in the wet, though I have not tested that as yet. About 1000 miles behind me, and I am loving this tire!

Avon - AV55 Storm Front Tire
I love this tire! I purchased this 2 months ago for my Honda ST1100, switching off a Metzler Z6 (which I had been running for the past 60K+ miles). I've already put just over 8K miles on this tire, in both twisty mountain roads in SoCal and also some long-distance rides including one 800-mile-plus day through heavy rains in Utah. This tire is much more responsive than the Metzler ever was. First time on it in the twisties I was able to ramp up everything--from speed to confidence. The tire is not showing signs of significant cupping (as the Metzler had), and it appears that it will provide me with about the same total miles as I was getting from the Metzler (i.e., around 9 - 9.5 K miles down to the wear bars).

Like this tire a lot
Had this tire installed on a used bike that I just bought, to match Avon brand new rear tire. In a month I have put over 1,500 miles, including highway, city streets, and weekend winding roads in hot weather as well as rain. Great grip, great feel. Stable at very high speed, or leaned way over. I had to do one major, hard stop, with no problem. My first time trying Avon, but if they last a decent amount of miles, I will buy again. Great price and fast delivery.

Great tire!
Upgraded from an earlier Avon, and this one is miles ahead in grip and handling. I just hope it lasts longer than the last one, destroyed it on one 2k mile trip!

avon tires AV55 and AV56
They are great! Broke those in after a week with a 500 mile run on the busa and they felt great. In the rain they have performed well maintaining constant traction.

Depends on how you ride
If you just like cruising the back roads and highways it's a fairly good tire. Try pushing these tires for a couple days of mountain twisties and they will chop out quickly. FJR 1300 is a lot more bike than these tire can handle. Going to try Michlin Pilot Road 2 next. Hope for better results.

AV55 Storm on a FJR 1300
I spent a long time looking before ordering this tire. I've put a few miles on it and I feel like it is a good match for the bike. The steering is light and neutral. No annoying "turn in" that comes with a heavy bike. It seems to be smooth and quiet so far. I do a lot of 2 up riding and the metzler that was on it before would turn in hard when cornering. I got the avon per others reviews for this bike. I am going to put a 56 on the back soon.

Not recommended
I put these on my FJR and the wear is very poor. The middle of the tire has fair tread left while the sides are cupping as much as 1/8 inch. It may just be my suspension going out. Hard to balance.

My experience with Avon was good until I bought this tire for my FJR1300. It cupped extremely bad, but only in a couple of segments. The middle of the tire is still like new, but to corner with it is dangerous. I will go back to the Sportbike Avons instead. This is my second one and the first that reminded me of junk.

Not Happy
This is my 2nd front Storm on my St1100 and I have a wobble(40-45). The worn one I removed was wobble-free. Called Avon and they wanted to talk to my mechanic. Should have read these reviews first. Will not use this front tire again.

Avon Storm Tires
This is my third set of Avon Storm STs, so I must be fairly happy with them. Their feel fits my riding style quite nicely. On my 2006 Triumph Sprint ST, I get 8000 mi. from a rear tire. I could get more from a front tire, but I always change them together. I mount my own tires and find the Avon’s particularly easy to mount. One of my friends, though, says that a "real" high performance tire has stiffer sidewalls and should be harder to mount. One quirky thing about the Avon’s is that they don't have a balance dot to indicate the heavy or light spot. I don't know if this is because Avon is too cheap to mark the spot or if it's because the tires are so perfectly constructed. My Triumph wheels with the Avon’s on them take much more weight than my friends BMWs with Metzeler’s on them. I suspect the Triumph wheels themselves more than the Avon tires.

This is my 5th and is the no doubt the finest MC tire I have ever ridden on. The only mark down I have on it is the durability. In a perfect world it would get a few more miles.

Avon front tire
This is a great front tire holds the road a lot better then the Dunlop 205 . I hope I get good mileage out of it .
