This shield is awesome
I got the mirror shield to wear during my day rides. My friends have complained of the mirror coating coming off their shields so I was curious how well the KBC shield would hold up. It's not rubbing off like the ICON shields that's for sure, plus it's priced right!

This mirrored shield looks awesome on my helmet! It is dark enough to work very well on a sunny day and yet still can be used on a lighted highway at night. I live outside the city and can't make use of it after dark for fear of deer.

Chrome - Nice Shield
Gets a bit foggy on cold days, but looks really nice. I've washed bugs off of it countless times and it's still as shiny as can be. Fit isn't superb on the VR-1X, as there is a small gap between the helmet and the top of the shield, but overall, it sets this helmet off nicely.

KBC shield
I got this shield in the mirrored versions, and while it looks great, I scratched it deeply the very first time I rode with it; by wiping off a bug with my leather gloves. The thing looks great, but at this rate, it will be very expensive to replace all the time.

KBC mirrored helmet shield
This was a replacement for a mirrored shield I had just installed. Sweet looking, but very delicate; I scratched the first one the first ride I took with it, by wiping off a bug with my gloved fingers. I am still riding with the scratched one still on the helmet, but wanted a replacement in case I was going on some trip where I wanted to look my sharpest. Now that I know how easy this shield scratches, I will be much more careful. So, my review; great looking, but not too durable.

KBC VR-1X shield
Very nice shield. Easy to install and durable. The only thing I have noticed is every once in awhile the shield will open when I turn my head to the side. Other than that it's good.

KBC Shield for FFR Helmets
Excellent priced item. A good value for the money. Works as described. A bit hard to get in place, but once installed it works great! And fits well with a good seal against the helmet's shield gasket.

KBC is consolidating almost all of their models to use the same shield. You receive new base plates with the new tinted shield to fit to your helmet. This seems like a great idea except for switching from clear to tinted. Your original clear shield uses the original base plates which are now replaced by the new base plates with the new tinted shield and they don't interchange. If you want to carry a clear shield for night riding you now have to buy a new clear shield that fits the new "universal" base plates. If you have more than one KBC helmet every shield is interchangeable but you have to buy new clear shields to make it happen.

The only issue I have is more with the helmet than with the shield - i.e. the replacement is not that easy to install.
It takes a little getting used to.

I purchased the mirrored shield and it really makes my helmet that much cooler. Mirrored on the outside but just a regular smoke color from the inside, it is a nice addition to my FFR helmet.

No need for sun block and glasses anymore
I needed to protect my face from the sun and had to put sun block with the regular shield. This smoked shield protects very well without being too dark (you can use it on cloudy days). Be careful when you wash it and remove bugs, it can easily be scratched.
But all in all this is a good investment, easy to snap in and out. If you are not riding along, your partners won't see your face which can be good or bad depending on the situation!

Mirrored visor
Fits really well to the FFR modular helmet.
Like most mirrored visors, the mirror doesn't seem as durable as it could be. Plus it amazes me how much more expensive these are vs. the smoked or clear ones. Easy, no tools, on and off also.

I bought this as a second shield as my other is clear. It is nicely tinted, not too dark. A little tough to change out but that is the helmet, not the shield. I am very happy with all of my purchases from this store and will purchase again.

This visor does the trick.
This tinted visor added a very cool look and function to my Vr-1x performance. I did notice some loss of visible detail due to a slight haze when the sun is shining across the visor, but I think that is normal for tinted visors. It is nice not having to wear sunglasses on sunny days and I just bring a set of clear glasses for night riding so there is no need to remove this visor. From the outside it flawlessly blacks out any view of the rider- a very cool look. It looks great closed, and looks great slightly cracked open used as a sun shade. These visors do scratch easily (what visor doesn't), but overall I am very happy with this purchase. It is easy to install and adds very cool form and function to my helmet. I will never go back to a clear visor.

KBC Shield for VR-1
I am always wanting to have a tinted visor on my helmets. It is rather bright sunshine out here in Texas. I would have liked it to be a little easier to interchange them so that I could ride with a clear one at night but this visor is quite difficult to put on and probably will not be removed unless scratched but after it was on, the helmet looked really sharp.

Fits as good as clear shield that came with helmet. Takes just a few minutes to install, just take your time. Seems to have a different level of tint(I have the dark tint)in shadows and direct sunlight. Not an objection just an observation. No complaints.

Installing the dark tinted visor is tricky.
It takes some practice installing the dark tinted visor. It's hard to line up the hinges, especially in subdued lighting (I keep my bike in a garage). The clear ones are easy to install since you can see through them. I find it helpful to shine a flashlight on the hinges as I install the dark visors, but that requires either an assistant to hold the flashlight or a flashlight small enough to fit in your mouth! I have found similar problems installing dark visors on other helmets, including the Shoei Multitec. Before you take off, make sure the visors are actually attached! Remember "ATG-ATT" (all the gear, all the time).

KBC Tinted Shield
I actually bought this for my wife. She was real tired of breaking sunglasses by using them inside her shield. We got her this, and she no longer breaks the sunglasses. She also thinks it looks cool to have a heavily tinted shield (I tend to agree). I'd get one, but I also ride when there is no sun in the sky, and don't want tot have two helmets to change out.
Bottom Line - Nice shield at a nice price.

As it is winter here in PA and will be a few months away to put them into service.

I like the shield, but hate the assembly mechanics of this helmet. It also seems to not fit perfectly which makes it even harder to put on the helmet, and therefore is also a bit of wind coming through

The tint on this in the bright Arizona sun works great. I like the anti-fog abilities on this shield also. The dark tint does not allow anyone from the outside to see my face. For night riding I just flip it up enough to see and it holds very tight in what ever position I set it to. It was a little trickey in getting this shield on, but comes off easy enough. I just needed to work with it a bit; however I would not want to make it a practice of having to change it all the time.

Dark tint is great!
The DARK TINT does a great job of blocking sunlight. It really takes the stress out of my eyes compared to wearing a clear visor, where I had to squint my eyes every time a sun ray would hit me. It's really simple & quick to switch out visors. Get this, you'll be doing your eyes a huge favor!

Good interchangeable shield
I have a 6 year old helmet and a helmet I purchased this year, and the shield fits both. I have the shield in smoke, chrome, clear, blue, and yellow. Smoke is foggy but tolerable when looking into the sun. Chrome is semi-reflective on the inside of the visor when looking into the sun but tolerable. The other 3 function perfectly. Changing them out can be delicate and difficult, because the alignment tabs aren't all that durable and they are hard to align on the tinted and chromed shields. Once you practice on the clear, you can align the others by feel.

KBC Smoked shield is cloudy
I purchased the smoked version of this shield to go on my VR-1 Euro helmet. The shield fits on flawlessly, but when facing toward a light source, like the sun, the shield is very cloudy. Facing away from the sun all is well. Since I already have a clear and yellow tint shield for my helmet, I wanted the smoked shield only for use on sunny days. The cloudiness makes it pretty much useless.

vr-1 KBC Mirror chrome shield
Fits perfectly, and that is all that needs to be said. I got the chrome mirrored one, and although it doesn't look like it in the picture, it really is a good chrome finish that looks just like a mirror in the sunlight. people won't be able to see in, but you can see out and there is a nice sun-shade on the inside.

The shield is hard to get on and stay on; the instructions are a little vague. I also ordered a shield with a chrome finish, but this one looks like smoke. It is dark and does not even slightly appear to be chrome. I really wanted chrome because the helmet is white-mostly and smoke really makes the helmet look lame. I have e-mail the customer service but have gotten NO response back. The helmet I like, the shield I hate (especially for the money!)

Used this shield (dark tint) on a sunny 350 mile run last week. No issues with fogging/distortion.
The only issue was one side came off almost immediately after I put my helmet on. It might of been operator error but I'm sure I test opened and closed it couple times. I think it might be the cheap plastic on my VR1 helmet. Otherwise no issues and I'm happy for the price.

I purchased this shield about a month ago, it fit my KBC helmet perfectly, and the color I selected was the rainbow chrome. Looking through the shield it has a mild amber tint and does a great job reducing glare and bright sunshine. From the outside the rainbow colors make the shield translucent so it is difficult to see your face. This shield works great and the multi colors really look cool! I would definitely buy this again, and would recommend it to anyone!

Installed this shield (Dark Smoke) on my KBC VR-1X helmet. No tools required. Easy swap and looks really good. The main reason I bought this shield is so I wouldn't have to wear sunglasses with my helmet, and this shield does the trick.
