Worth it if you use it

I purchased these pants 1 year ago with the Rainier jacket. The pants are a great fit with the jacket and will keep you dry in a storm. The armor is a great feature and it always seems to be in the right spot when I get on the bike. Just like the Rainier jacket these pants are expensive, but if you use them they are worth it. With the thermal lining in them the pants can be quite bulky but will definitely keep you warm in the cold months.

TPG Escape Pants

The pants are a good value. They offer protection from impact and road abrasion. They are cool enough to use on HOT days and offer a liner for cool whether riding. The fit is true to normal pant sizes. However, they are heavy and suspenders were recommended to keep them up when walking.

Great pants

Excellent fit and armour. Road through heavy rain storms and stayed perfectly dry. No negatives found to date.

Highly recommend - Firstgear - TPG Escape Pants

I struggled to find motorcycle pants that fit (36 inch waist and 30 length in jeans). Ordered the 36 short and these have proved to be excellent (do not wear with the liner - the bike gets put away once snow hits the ground). Knees protectors are in the correct position once I'm sitting on the bike. Appreciate the available zip vents on the thighs - have felt quite comfortable on very hot days (another zip vent would be a nice-to-have for the desert dwellers). Very satisfied with the purchase - and grateful that First Gear makes an excellent short inseam version for the vertically challenged.

GREAT

I have just rec'd my pair and the fit and finish is great. They were recommended by a friend and he was right. I rode this morning in 35 degrees and I was toasty worm. Right thigh pocket is perfect place. I have the 34 long and the knees seem to fit perfect. I am 6'1" and was worried the long might be too long but I was wrong....perfect. I felt snug as a bug in a rug as they say and will by another pair as backup for down the road.

Comfortable pants

Great pair of pants...haven't worn them yet in hot weather but definitely great in the cooler temps...and it matches my Rainer and Tetons jackets.

Better than average

I bought these primarily for winter riding. I was used to using the HT overpants in the past. These are the first base pants I have worn. Ridden with them in temps from upper 20's to mid-60's with just a pair of microweight smartwool base layer and been comfortable. As mentioned in other reviews the knee protection rides slightly lower than normal, but with a 32" inseam, not uncomfortably or seemingly unsafe. My knees were still covered. Shorter legs / inseams may have problems and firstgear would do well to make the knee protection adjustable. Pockets are great, especially the right thigh pocket. Very handy.

Nice weather proof pants

I bought these to go with a TPG Rainer Jacket. The pants seem to be well made though I've had one of the rubber letters in the "Firstgear" logo come off a pant leg. It's just cosmetic so I'm not concerned about it. Zip in liner makes these pants warm and they are easy to get on and off with the leg zippers. Clasp at the top seems to be sturdy and pants shed water ok in a light rain. Vents did not seem to do much the one day that I used them though I still had the liner in since I had nowhere to stow it on the bike.

First gear TPG Escape pants

Santa brought me a full set of Gerbing Liners, so I needed an overpant to accommodate a liner. The supplied TPG liner is warm and substantial in and of itself-adequate down to the cloudy, rainy mid thirties-even on a naked bike with the provided liner; however it is to the fit and features which I address in the review. The fit can accommodate a wide latitude between two waist sizes because of the side adjusters. Everything else is gravy: leg zippers to get boot-clad feet in and out of the pants; two pockets front and rear, complete with a thigh pocket. What you're getting is a very versatile article for every situation- even when warm afternoons ensue- you'll have VERY efficient thigh vents zippers to circulate cooling air even with the liner installed.
