Troy Lee Designs Apex Jacket

I really like this jacket. I normally ride in an Icon full leather jacket and the summer heat was getting to me this year. This jacket is awesome. It offers great protection / good looks / and it ventilates very well. Better than other cheaper mesh jackets I have owned in the past.

Went from Scorpion Leather Jacket to Troy Lee Designs and loving every minute of it. It fits better, feels lighter, and has more protection. I wanted to buy it last year after trying it on at my local motorcycle store, so I started to save money for this year. Glad I waited. It's on sale now. :) Only two things are kind of goofy. One, the zipper latches on the opposite side. Two, the inner pocket could have been better constructed. Otherwise it is my go to jacket for all my riding.

Had an opportunity to try out many name brand jackets at my local motorcycle supply store last year. They had just one of the Apex Air. After trying it on, I fell in love. Promised myself to start saving money for it. Snug, free movement with the pads on the outside. What a wonderful concept. When I saw the jacket on sale at Motorcycle Superstore, I had to get one. After a few days of riding I could not stop smiling. Easy to walk around in, plenty of air going through, and it moves with you. Best apparel purchase yet.
TLD Apex Air Review

I normally wear an XL, or a 48. 6’1, 220 lbs. But after a little research, it seems this jacket runs small, so I ordered the XXL. Tough one here, it fits perfect in the shoulders and length, but a little large in the tummy area and a lot of room in the arms.
The armor is comfortable as well, but could have been better formed. The back protector is very nice, but the air holes don’t actually go all the way through, so it can make you warmer. Arms needed adjusters and the stripe across the chest doesn’t allow air to flow through. Nice combination of mesh, Cordura, and stretch Kevlar. The front is a little too long and bunches a little. Collar has a nice soft fleece material next to your skin. Waist adjusters are Velcro, and seem to work well. Helps with the fit issues. But for what I bought it for, riding to work on warm days, wearing it with Kevlar jeans, and the like, it is great. I will still wear my full perf leathers when I really go riding, or one of my BMW zip together suits. If you are looking for a mesh jacket, in a more casual sense, but still want protection, this is a great design. I would not give up the level of protection this jacket offers for more air flow; a mesh jacket (any mesh jacket) is risky enough.
Troy Lee's first street product is a hit!

I have owned many jackets (12 so far) and tried on countless and this jacket to me is by far the very best I have ever encountered. Its styling, quality, comfort, and fit are great! I live in Houston, Texas and I wear this jacket in the summer time all the time and it is great, breathes like there's nothing on. I love the retro styling of this jacket and think it looks great, also with the armor being on the outside of the jacket not only does it look cool but it feels like you're not even wearing an armored jacket at all. I've never seen a jacket with such design but it works great and all jackets in my opinion should be like designed like this. It also has a hole near the collar for your headphones and with this you're headphones will never get caught up between your bike and your legs. As I said earlier I have always bought many different jackets mainly because I could never find one I truly loved but with this jacket I will not be looking for a new jacket anytime soon. I would recommend this jacket to anyone, great in hot and cold weather, definitely a solid 5/5.

Just got the jacket in the mail. It has a great look, fantastic armor, and a slim cut. A little too slim. I am 5' 9" , have a 33" waiste and am 210 lbs and work out. If you have an athletic build you will need and extra large. For the skinny, 170 pounders', the Large should fit nice and snugg. I didn't think I was an extra-large, but I guess in the motorycle world full of tiny europeans, I am. The zipper seemed a bit cheap...other than that...a pretty cool jacket. I will be exchanging for an extra-large.

I've owned many different jackets and brands from fieldsheer to alpinestars and I have to say that this jacket beats every single jacket I have ever tried on. I love the retro cafe racer styling with the stripes and name on the chest and, with the pads on the outside of the jacket versus the inside like every other jacket it doesn't even feel like you are wearing a jacket with armor, yet the pads stay right in the right spot to cover your elbows/shoulders/back and keep you protected. With the liner out I have no problem wearing this jacket in the heat (I live in Texas) it gets great air flow, as well with the liner in it is very warm. It has a spot as well for you to put your headphones through so they don't get tangled and you can listen to them comfortably. Even with the external back armor you can wear a back pack with no problems, the jacket's fit is perfect as well. Of all of the 12 jackets I have owned and countless I have tried on this is BY FAR the most comfortable and highest quality jacket I have ever worn. It may seem a bit pricey but it is most certainly worth ever penny, by far the best jacket I've ever seen.
