Kathmandu Jacket
This is one GREAT jacket. Quality construction. All features work well, and it looks good too! Have ridden with hard rain, wind, and 40deg. in comfort (light sweatshirt under) and stayed completely dry. I got sand/silver for better visibility at night. Large a good fit for me (180lbs/5'9""/41"chest/long arms) with room for sweats and longsleeve T shirt under. Tried on locally for sizing, saved over $50 by using MCSS. They're the best!

Nice jacket but not tall enough
This jacket is very nice overall Has ton of features, very durable, weatherproof, etc. This is the first jacket Ive owned in 20 years where the arms are long enough! BUT I ordered the "tall" and to me its a normal height length not a tall. Just barely tall enough for me, even a little short on me. I'm 6' 4", not tallest guy on planet, so I would recommend anyone over my height or taller needs to look for something longer. Overall its good enough for me and it a good value, and a sizing which is not easy to find...

Kathmandu Jacket
My 5 year old First Gear Mesh jacket (size XXL) fits loose enough to wear heavier clothing. The Kathmandu fits more like an XL, so be aware the sizing is on the smaller side. The 1.5 liter water bladder proved a bonus, allowing me to ride thirst free between gas stops. The opening of the bladder sack needs to be wider to allow easier insertion of the bladder and the on / off function of the water valve is not user friendly. I would buy it again, and recommend it.

Great Jacket
I'm very happy with this jacket. It fits well and looks great. Being in the Deep South, I was a bit concerned about how hot it would be, but my fears were unwarranted. In 85 degrees, this jacket is perfectly tolerable (of course, without the liner). At 90, it starts getting uncomfortable. At 95 - well, there isn't much that's comfortable at that temp. On cool-ish mornings, I need the liner. I haven't worn it in the rain yet, but judging by the fit and quality of the rest of the garment, I think this will perform very nicely. I plan on getting the matching pants very soon and I'll try the whole thing out in a good downpour. This jacket looks smart, fits great, has all the features you would want for a long trip. I like the water backpack though I haven't had a need for it yet.

Great Jacket for the PNW
I did a lot of research before buying this jacket. Found a power sports store and tried several on. The fit is great and comfortable for an all weather jacket. Up here in Washington from mountains to coastal the easy removable liner for changing temps is great and the large pocket in the back to store the liner makes it convenient. Have not yet to try it in wet weather to see how it holds up. I also bought the Kathmandu pants to go with the jacket.

Firstgear - Kathmandu Jacket
This is my first armored jacket and I tried a bunch on from various manufacturers. So far I have been very pleased with the jacket. It fits well, has lots of storage and is comfortable. The Velcro is strong and at times difficult to open while riding; but very secure. It is a hot jacket even with the liner out and all vents open so I bought the Firstgear Mesh Tex for hot weather and that is great too. I have been warm in the Kathmandu with temps in the 40's with only the liner and a long sleeve t-shirt. Overall I would buy it again.

Trip Results: 4000 miles in 30 days
I'm 6'4", 200 lbs, I didn't size up - I went with a 42 Tall. The extra length was terrific. On cold rides, I don't like to be constrained by thick clothing so I wear a thermal shirt, but never a jacket or sweater. There was room, however, to wear a thick jacket if necessary. The various fitting features were excellent - including the snaps, straps, and overlaps. This jacket was excellent at sealing out the cold wind and rain, and was comfortable between 45 and 80 degrees. The vents were inadequate for cooling above 80, even with the liner removed. There were plenty of pockets of various sizes and shapes, most were very easy to use. It was easy to remove and install the liner and the safety pads. The contours of the arms were very comfortable for riding an upright bike (BMW 1150 GS).

Nice versatile jacket
I wore this jacket through some typical western weather, 35 degrees to 85 in about an hour. Saw some snow and rain too and it seems to be reasonably waterproof in a moderate rain. Below about 55 degrees you need the liner or an electric jacket underneath. Pockets are OK but zippers are not oriented for access while riding. Front vents work well, and underarm vents too. Overall a pretty decent jacket though and I was able to avoid stopping to change into/out of rain gear when I hit rain or afterward dry weather.

great value
After my first few rides with my new Kathmandu jacket I felt vindicated in spending the $$. Quality of construction is excellent, feature set is amazing - details are great - right down to the under-helmet rain hood built into the collar. During hot rides here in AZ it surprised me with the amount of ventilation provided by the chest zipper vents, making it viable even during our hot season. Fit is near perfect for my frame, though I wonder if portlier riders will feel constricted. My only gripe is that when I fill & wear the attachable H2O bladder, it tends to pull back & down, yanking the collar against my throat. Other than that this is an outstanding value - highly recommended!!

Needed Additions to this fine coat.
The jacket is great. It needs a forearm vent. The existing vents are great an provide adequate ventilation through the core but the arms should have a vent in order to allow ventilation to the arms which can be very uncomfortable in hot days.
