Product Description
Named after the famous snow-capped volcano in Tanzania, the renowned Kilimanjaro jacket, now in its fourth generation, was created for a life of extreme riding. From the dry scorching heat of the African summer, to the continent’s short, but incredibly wet monsoon season, the Kilimanjaro is built to persevere.

In terms of protection, all Firstgear textile jackets employ Hypertex®, an effective combination of abrasion-resistant synthetic materials. To ensure the ultimate in protection should you find yourself sliding down the road, all textile jackets are double stitched using the best five-ply nylon thread available. All Firstgear textile jackets also feature CE-approved armor in the elbows and shoulders, the two most commonly impacted areas of your body.

  • Made of a 330 denier nylon Hypertex&trade, waterproof, breathable membrane
  • Removable, fully-sleeved, wearable fleece liner/jacket, CE-approved armor in shoulders and elbows
  • EVA foam back pad, patented 3-port Torso Vent System (TVS), Caped under sleeve and rear air vent

Bob Ennist Cody,  WY Kilimanjaro 4.0 Great jacket and I bought the H2O pants as well. The jackets run small in size. Liner is a challenge to put back in but that is the only downside to this pair that I can find. The best wet weather gear on the market.

James Woodstock,  NB A touring must! So far this coat has been proving itself to be a fine piece of riding gear. The ventilation in quite good, especially on hot days. Rain protection is also equally good, but haven't tried any monsoons type weather yet. The fit is snug, especially considering I am of slight build and very thin (5’7ā€ 140 lbs), so most times I have to order a small. I took others advice in the reviews and decided on the medium, which fits perfectly. A couple of tricks to offer those having problems with the chest ventilation staying open -- Once you have opened the vent zippers, open the pocket flap and use its velcro to help hold the vent open. This will also help expose another mating piece of velcro to help hold the vent open. Once done, the vents stay quite open.

Pam Terrebonne,  OR Best riding jacket you can buy for the price After 50,000 miles and multitudes of weather conditions, I am still in love with my Kilimanjaro 3.0. I've worn this jacket in 29 degree temps with snow falling, and on 95 degree days. Sure, there would be better options for each of these extremes, but nothing else that would perform adequately in BOTH. Another plus, even in torrential downpours, it's waterproof. The Kjaro does it all. Between 2 of us, we own 10 riding jackets. The Kjaro is the only one we'd take on anything longer than a day ride. If I could only own one jacket, this would be it, no question.

John Lake St Louis,  MO Kilimanjaro 4.0 Exceeded expectations so far. Totally warm with liner in and outside temp is 50 degrees. With the liner out and the vent zippers open very comfortable at 70 degrees plus. Haven't tried in anything hotter. Tried it out with a good rain and found it dry as could be. If it had a splash hood you could unzip from collar and put on your head would be ideal, but no problems as is. It's a sturdy dude and won't flap or rustle at all at highway speed. Really happy with it and did not cost like Aero stitch would.

LDR1 Jonesboro,  AR Dry/Warm Great jacket had it for three years; I ride all the time in all weather, never been wet or cold. Come in from a long trip last spring last five hours riding in heavy rain just trying to get home. Outer jacket was soaked but I was dry on the inside. Great jacket!!

The Sweck Longview,  WA Nice Jacket The jacket fits true to size. The tall size works great for me (6-4). It's very warm, but I haven't tested it riding in the rain yet. The back pad leaves something to be desired, but I use a supplemental back protector anyway.

Jan Hanczyk Brooklyn,  NY Kilimanjaro 4.0 Jacket This is the first motorcycle jacket that I have purchased. Fit of jacket is very good. It is warm in the cooler weather with the liner and very comfortable on warmer days with it removed. No wind gust inside jacket, and secure feeling wearing it. Hope to use this jacket for a very long time. Would purchase this jacket again without question.

Herb Pitzman Woodstock,  IL First Gear - Kilimanjaro 4.0 Jacket Replaced my wife's jacket & mine after 8 years of long distance touring wearing an earlier version of the 4.0 Kilimanjaro jacket. If you do this type of riding & only want one jacket to take along, this is it. Great rain protection, nice liner that you can wear alone as a jacket & we have been comfortable riding in the 30's to in the high 80's. The venting, liner, & armor have been improved from our older model.

Brian Bollinger Carpentersville,  IL First Gear Kilimanjara 4.0 I just got my Kilimanjaro jacket 3 weeks ago and I love it! Looks great, fits well on me and I have tried it in 40 degree weather and I’m confident that I will be comfortable for all the riding seasons. Definitely a good purchase for me.
