Xavier Burlingame,  CA decent value but not for commuting The first thing I noticed was how difficult it was to put the helmet on. After months of break-in it's easier but putting it on and putting sunglasses in are still tough. Never felt this way about my other helmets. This helmet is noisier than my old-model Shoei RF800, especially when i look to the side! I notice very little difference in airflow with the vents open or closed, which is fine in cool weather but little help in the heat of summer. Quality wise it's not great - a light bump on the top of helmet and now 1 of the top vents won't open/close anymore. The chin strap is so long I have to fasten the end or it start slapping my neck - was never a problem with Shoeis or HJCs. All that said, removable interior panels are impossible to find at this price.

David Seattle,  WA will not buy kbc again Fits tighter than other helmets, but seems to fit my oval-shaped head quite well. Has incredibly loud wind noise...felt it was not worth the $ and would have rather purchased a more expensive, but quality helmet.

David K Seattle,  WA Not worth it The helmet fits a little tighter than average which I was kind of happy for, the vents are really cheaply made, but worst of all is the deafening wind noise. I bought this helmet, wore it once, and it has only sat on my shelf since then.

doug Seattle,  WA KBC VR-2R helmet First of all for $75 this was a good deal. That said quality is an issue. A top vent came unglued. Like others have said, it’s noisy at speed. Looks like it was sprayed with a rattle can. But it works and I'll leave it on my bike unlike the $500 helmet.

Ivan NY,  NY Good Helmet for the price First of all, I bought this on a closeout deal for $50. I can tell you that the quality of the helmet is pretty good. It's very light also. The only problem I had was a low frequency whistling at certain speeds. I noticed that it could be fixed if you moved your helmet around a bit. Overall, it's a great buy at the price. I am not sure if I would buy it full price.

Randy San Jose,  CA Good helmet Good fit, nice visibility. Lots of air coming in. DOT and Snell. Whistles when the visor is up and going > 25 mph. Lots of wind noise when going > 55 mph. Definitely recommend ear plugs when hitting highway speeds. I don't feel air coming through the chin area, but still very noisy. Quick change visor feature is pretty slick. Good helmet. But not great.

Steven Escondido,  CA KBC-VR-2R Helmet I bought this helmet for my wife now that she has agreed to try ridding (as a passenger). Not knowing if she would call it quits after one ride, I didn't want to spend too much but wanted a decent helmet for her and I refuse to use/buy used helmets. So.... for the money, this is a very, very nice helmet. The finish is excellent. It could use a little more ventilation. I wear an Arai so I am comparing it to a very expensive helmet. Very pleased with this helmet, especially considering the price.

Bob Ft. Walton Beach,  FL KBC VR-2R Helmet This is a great $150.00 helmet so the $80.00 I spent was a great buy. Ventilation is excellent, and the anti-fog works well, best of any helmet I’ve had. I just did a 3000 mile trip with this helmet and with ear plugs, was very happy with it overall.

Terry San Angelo,  TX excellent helmet for the price I am very pleased with everything about this helmet. I expected a good fit because I had a 3/4 KBC helmet and it fits well. The airflow in this helmet is good and I live in a very hot area, I have ridden at temps above 95F with no complaint. The face shield seals well, I rode in heavy rain recently and never had one drop of water on my head or through the face shield. It is slightly heavy but not to the point of tiring me out. Overall I am very happy with the KBC helmet.

Charles Ledger Oroville,  CA Great helmet, but one con I picked up the VR-2R to replace my current Bell Zephyr, which is having shield problems, and apparently parts are not available. The VR-2R fit like other KBC's I've tried--all of them fit snug, but comfortably. The only problem I had was the top vents would rattle at low speeds and whistle at highway speeds. The rattle I could cope with, once I figured out it was the helmet and not something loose on the bike. The whistle was distracting, and would only go away if I covered the vents with my hand. So, I returned it--thanks Motorcycle-Superstore; great return policy.

Shane C. Denham Springs,  LA VR-2R is Great This is my second VR-2R because they ride great. I ride naked bikes so I am in the wind. Noise is minimal and the view port allows great side vision. Also even at interstate speeds I can turn my head sideways without any parachute affect. You can't beat the features of this helmet for the price, not to mention this is a full race helmet. KBC also has great factory direct customer support!

Gary St Paul,  MN Good Value for the Cost If I was paying the full price for this helmet I would be disappointed in the overall finish quality. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice helmet, but for a helmet with an MSRP of $250 it should be a lot nicer. However, I only paid $80 so can't complain. It fits well, not too noisy, and is pretty comfortable. I like the fit better than the Nolan I switched from.

Kyle Columbus,  IN Entry level I ride a CBR600 f4i and I was looking for something with less wind noise than my current HJC. I have noticed when the wind comes across just right; the helmet has a very annoying whistle. I bought a size medium. Not too tight, not too loose. I feel the padding around the ears could use a little work. Feels like the edge of a pad is rubbing the tops of my ears. Also maybe if the pads were closer to the ears it might cut down on wind noise. I wear ear plugs on long rides. I would never have paid the MSRP for this helmet. The outer shell doesn't seem to be up to par for a $200+ helmet. I can't tell the difference with the air vents open or closed. There seems to be a lot of wind coming in around the chin area, even with the added chin flap piece. I do like the visibility with the visor fully closed. The visors are molded around the edge to create a seal when closed, with the visor cracked open it cuts visibility down a lot. Difficult to get used to.

J Parker Los Angeles,  CA Shield Design Flaw I would give this helmet a thumbs up all around except for one major design flaw - shields are not interchangeable without needing to install different base plate hardware. The stock clear shield that comes with the helmet uses one base plate, replacement shields require installation of a different base plate (supplied with shield). The stock shield does not function properly with the new base plate. It is not difficult to install the new base plate, but to me, the main point and benefit of having different shields is to be able to switch between them easily - tinted for day, clear for night. I should not have to carry around extra hardware and a screwdriver in order to do this. This in my opinion is a major design oversight on KBC's part. Makes me wonder what other design flaws the helmet may have.

Craig Ottawa,  ON VR-2R The fit is not quite as round as the Arai Quantum I had. The chin bar comes quite close to my face, but no worse than an HJC. It's quite comfortable all in all, not perfect, but very good. You can see the difference in finish between an Arai and the KBC, but when you spend $80 vs. $400, what do you really expect? The paint was even, but the areas in and around vents were either sloppy or left some gaps. The vents flow air, but not as much as you'd expect looking at it. I always ride with earplugs, so I can't rate it any noisier or quieter than normal..

Chris Shenefiel Oakton,  VA Not bad but... There are two major issues I faced with this helmet. The visor and the buffeting wind noise. The visor had visual distortion and there were even thumbprints embedded in the anti-fog coating which would not come out with water and a soft cloth. The wind noise was low frequency from under the helmet. I ride vertical - cruiser - and the wind turbulence under the helmet was very distracting. I returned this product and am still looking.

Kyle Kent,  OH KBC Helmet I bought this helmet specifically for a ride from northeastern Ohio to Clearwater, Florida and back. I was very impressed by how the low the price was, considering that it has a SNELL approval. There is a little wind noise, but nothing too terrible. The front vent and the fog-free shield really keep visibility good. It kept my head warm in the 600 miles that I had to ride at 30 degrees. Impressive helmet for the price!

ray lakeland,  GA Slight disappointment I bought this as a replacement to my previous VR-2 helmet that I bought about 4-5 years ago and I was disappointed with KBC's drop in quality. It's hard to describe what exactly I mean by a drop in quality. I mean the helmet is very similar to my first VR-2 but it just feels cheaper in craftsmanship and materials.

Beth Seitz Bonne Terre,  MO LOVE this helmet! I bought this for my husband who is a very big guy. Was concerned with some of the reviews that said it ran a little small. When he got it and tried it on it was a little tight but just needed some breaking in. He is THRILLED with it. Loves the weight and material and the price was unbeatable! We have had no issues with wind noise and the fact that it is Snell approved makes us feel safe. Hopefully, he'll never have to test it in an accident! THANK YOU SO MUCH MOTORCYCLE SUPERSTORE!!!!

Patrick Tucker Arlington,  TX KBC-VR-2R Helmet This is the first KBC helmet that I've owned and after wearing it for about a month now, I can say that I am impressed with it! The helmet fits me perfect right out of the box. The only other helmet that I can say the same about was my Shoei helmet which I paid considerably more for than the KBC. The one thing that stands out the most for me besides the fit is how light weight it feels on my head which I believe will reduce fatigue on long rides plus it seems to circulate a good amount of air with the vents open. I can surely recommend this helmet for its fit and function and price point and will probably consider one in the future when it's time for replacement.

They are impressed by the quality and look of this helmet, as well as the removable liner. Given how much less I paid for mine, I think it’s a win. David charlotte,  NC Great Helmet Great helmet. Like the quick visor change system. I ride all year as much as possible. The only thing to stop me is the recent 20 degree and snowy weather. Its light weight, good looking and a great price considering the cost of other high quality helmets. Good ventilation. It could use a bit more around the top of the visor. I say that only because it fogs up a bit when it very humid out, like on a rainy day. I fixed that problem with a Foggy breath guard insert. I've got two of these and will buy another if I need one.

Paul Sentes Penticton,  BC KBC VR-2 The overall fit of the helmet suits me alright, although my cheekbones are surprisingly to wide for the helmet, and I don't have a wide face. Jason Ann Arbor,  MI No big heads I had issues with a spare shield that wouldn't fit, however the one that came with the helmet has given me very little trouble. The fit and finish of this helmet is quite good and it is not too big over all. The description says something about smaller shell dimensions and it does appear to be a bit more compact that competitors models which I like. One word of caution if you have a large head you may want to look elsewhere as the neck of this helmet is pretty small making donning and removing the helmet a bit snug.
