The helmet got here sooner than expected as did the tire a few months ago. Same brand same sizing, slightly different shell and accoutrements. Fit is perfect, as expected. Finish is also. Only about two hours of use, it's been raining and we had a trip to endure in the "VAN," so there is no way to evaluate the durability. As far as features, I wish they could find a way to get more air inside for us who ride behind a shield. This one's better than the old TZ-R, but still fogs up when cool, which it is mostly in NW WA. Couldn't have afforded the needed replacement without the great break for end of season. The color is astonishing! Motorcycle Superstore is the max! and neighbors too. THANKS.

Good Helmet
My wife received this helmet Friday afternoon, Friday night we left for our 799 mile trip. This is the most comfortable helmet she ever wore. The sizes run a little big. I gave it a 3 for features because fogging seem to be an issue on cool damp mornings and evenings. Crack the visor and it helps a little. Shoei needs to work on this fogging problem. My Arai very seldom fogs under the same circumstances. Overall the Shoei RF-1000 is a good quality helmet and worth the couple of extra bucks.

My first full face helmet, so take it with a grain of salt.
I rode a thousand miles across the country in this helmet. Very comfortable, nice ventilation. It fogs up in the morning, but it has a switch to crack the visor, and it works. This was my first helmet, so I don't have a reference point on noise, but I didn't think it was bad. I'd buy another one.

Can you see me now?
I bought this as a replacement for my Nolan flip. I like the lightness and the bright yellow makes it stand out compared to other gray or black helmets. I wish the venting was better or maybe my breath needs to be colder, but it does get foggy at times. I switched cheek pads for a thinner set, hoping that will keep me cooler in the summer and I won't be reaching for my heavier Nolan modular.

This helmet fits great. It's one of the most comfortable I have tried on. The aerodynamics are better than my other helmet. As others have noted, I may try a set of smaller cheekpads with my next order to MSS. I need to add the chin skirt and hope that it reduces buffeting with the visor completely closed. The light metallic silver closely matches the color of my CBR. In my opinion, the Shoei is of top quality and function.

Great fit...
This is the best helmet I have purchased. I gave the "features" a 4 because the fog deflector does not work very well...fogs up on cool mornings. There is some wind noise which I was disappointed with considering the price. The fit and comfort are pleasing. All in all, great buy.

Great Helmet
This is my third Shoei helmet, and they keep getting better. This is lighter and quieter than the last generation of RF-1000's. You have removable fog and chin deflectors (which is a great feature with the ever changing temps in So. Cal winter, i.e., cold hot cold hot. Also, Shoei's are very true to size I find, but like any helmet you need to break in the pads a bit. Only negative comments are : the alleged easy off/on face shield--it takes some finessing to get back on (especially smoke shield as you cannot visualize slots); could use more venting at chin/face--well directed but on hot days but miss the old Shoei GX-1 for it's awesome venting; also in terms of pricing, Shoei is up there baby.

Very comfortable but it fogs up really easily!
My Husband and I both have Shoei RF-1000s and while we both like the fit, we both have pretty bad problems with fogging (even with the breath guard in). We live in Seattle so it is cold and damp right now, but our old HJCs don't fog up nearly as badly in this weather. Some nights mine fogs up so badly I have to keep the visor open the entire ride home (even on the freeway)! I am not sure I would recommend this helmet if you live in a cold/damp place or if your breathing is not really controlled.

Excellent choice..!
Tested fit in local MCycle store prior to order - found Helmet very comfortable. Knew It must be on the tight side when new.. Found it was very comfortable after a couple of days usage. Fit and Finish is top notch.. and lightweight! Price is reasonable for high quality item this is. Would recommend to anyone who appreciates the gray matter on the top shelf.! Ride Safe..!

Your head is worth it.
This is a really nice helmet. I bought the blue metallic color. The finish is outstanding and the interior is like a plush living room. The cheek pads feel good even after hours of riding. The ventilation works well, but isn't that noticeable. On a cold ride with the top and rear vents open you can feel the draft. It comes with a chin curtain and breath guard, which you have the option to install. I have both and they're ok pieces. The curtain came loose a couple of times already. Be careful using any solvents to clean the finish. I used a very mild auto body paint-prep solvent to clean an area for a decal and that smeared the finished slightly. I'd say rubbing alcohol would've been safer. Any dirt on the helmet or shield comes off easily with a soft rag and some S100. It has accurate sizing for a helmet of this price. Lower priced helmets seems to be a range of sizes from one's XL to another's. Shoei fits accurate to an Arai and others in this price range.

Top notch helmet
You know what they say ... have a $10 head, buy a $10 helmet. While the Shoei is generally more expensive than other brands, the quality is all there. Fit is tremendous (go by the sizing chart) and while initially a little snug, the padding will 'break down' to fit your face. No hard spots from inadequate liner thickness, unlike cheap helmets. The black helmet looks awesome with the chrome visor. Get yourself one.

Outstanding helmet
Though apprehensive about buying a helmet online before trying it on, I just measured my head per instructions (XL), clicked the order button and now I know what a great helmet feels like... perfect fit (though like others, I recommend getting the thinner cheek pads from Shoei as standard was a bit too snug, and I've got a thin face). This helmet is unbelievably more quiet than my old Nolan -- I almost don't need earplugs (and the iPod with earplug headphones I sometimes use sounds much nicer at a lower volume). Also noticed how much more aerodynamic it is - cuts through the wind with no vibration/humming. Great ventilation too - did a 400 mile ride in 105+ degrees and my head was the coolest part of me. Also got the Spectra shield (mirror) and love it -- keeps my face cooler and have not even had to wear sunglasses, but it's not too dark - enhances vision tremendously by cutting glare). This helmet is worth every cent. Highly recommend it.

Great Helmet
The only complaint that I have with this helmet is that the cheek pads aren't quite right for my big, melon head and I have simply been too lazy to purchase a smaller size. The visor does fog a bit on early morning rides, but I just crack it open a bit and that problem is solved. There is good airflow for hot days and the wine color looks pretty snappy.

Nice Helmet for daily commute
Overall fit is very good. Feels solidly in place while riding. The cheek pads are a bit stout and tend to force my mouth open just a bit, so I am hoping they will wear down some since I've only been wearing it for a month. The noise is decent around town. 55mph and up, the noise around the bottom, near my ears tends to pick up more than I would like. Not sure if this is more the buffeting from my bike's fairing or just the helmet design. Ear plugs work wonders though. The ventilation is not as good as on my Arai Profile. Especially for the chin bar vent to defog the shield. The good thing is the standard Shoei tab that allows the shield to be slightly lifted. I find myself riding with the tab engaged and the shield slightly cracked most of the time. Great helmet for the price.

Its lighter and quieter then my old one. The only thing I don't like about the new model is the clip on tail end of the chin strap. I like the metal clips to convert the D rings to plug in strap and I had just break off the little clip on the new one. The Shoei’s are much more expensive, but they make very nice helmets. I hope this one lasts as long as my last one.

What a difference!
The comfy cushioned liner feels just right. The helmet is lightweight and noise is minimal. It's even more aerodynamic in that it doesn't try to lift off of my head. The ventilation is also good. I wasn't a believer in expensive helmets until I tried this one, (the price at this website is quite reasonable) now I'll never go back to my old brand.

Really top-shelf quality in every respect. There is nothing on the helmet that feels flimsy. Fit is spot-on perfect for my head, true to size. I have been riding in 90 degree July heat, and the ventilation works really well. Although every helmet is hot in the summer, when at speeds above 25mph I can feel the air flowing strongly around all sides of my head. The noise from the system is not too bad, but there is some. This is a premium product, but I believe that you get what you pay for with helmets, and this is one place I won't cut corners.

Nice helmet. Light weight and very comfortable fit except a little pressure on my forehead after having it on for 3 or more hours. Venting would probably work better on a sport bike where there is more wind at the head but I ride a Goldwing so it does get a little warm. Put in Edsets communication system so me and my SO can talk and listen to music on long rides. I did a custom flush mounted install and it was a breeze. Would purchase again.

Great helmet. Fit perfect. Cheek pads on the medium size are standard 35 mm thick. Too thick for my cheeks, so I wear without the cheek pads for now. A 31 mm (std for larger sizes) would have been nice on the medium too. At least there should have been a choice for the cheek pad sizes, though may be same case for any helmet. Rides very quiet, well ventilated. Strongly recommend.

I was used to an open face helmet- so it took some getting used to. And when going slow in the city you have to open the face shield so it doesn't fog up. But when you get on the highway and let her rip- this helmet can't be beat- it remains cool- no more fogging- and is nicely aerodynamic.

RF-1000 great choice
I finally upgraded from my old RF700 and couldn’t be happier. I ride a BMW R1100R with no shield & the wind noise is dramatically less than the old RF700. The price broke my heart, but you get what you pay for – I recently sent back a lower end AGV due to wind noise. I’m really happy with the AXIS YELLOW too – I’ve gotten quite a few positive comments on the high visibility color.

Nice Helmet!
To be honest, this is my first "full face" helmet, so let me give you my first impressions. It's really light and riding at 20 mph or 65 mph this helmet slices through the air. It's very comfortable and I am very happy with the fit and finish. I would definitely buy this helmet again!

Love the fit and finish of the helmet and was pretty much the only one that would fit my noggin'. Most of riding is around town but on the long distance days at 120kmh or better I have to wear ear plugs, the wind noise is mind numbing. No major complaints, I would buy another one.

I love this helmet! Very lightweight, nice snug fit. This helmet has good ventilation and is very comfortable to wear. I have noticed myself finding reasons to put this helmet on even when i am not riding, I like it that much. It’s a like a bear hug for the head. I just want to wear it all the time. Noise is nearly non-existent with the shield down. A very nice, quiet, comfortable helmet; it’s one of my best purchases.

I bought this for my wife who is the pickiest person I know. Very particular about comfort, fit, etc.
She has no complaints and that is amazing to me considering she is very difficult to fit. Also the pictures don't quite capture how cool this helmet is to look at. It looks like a beautiful Anime sculpture. I own an Arai and wish I had bought this for myself.

Comfortable!
I really enjoy the comfort of this helmet. I tried on several at a local store and found the shoei to be superior in comfort and a snug fit. If the visor is up and you're doing between 25mph and 35mph you hear a slight wind whistle. Beyond that I kept the visor down and it's smooth sailing. I quite enjoy it.

I bought the helmet for my husband, but I love it so much I'll be ordering another for myself. He commented first on the weight of it. While we both love the HJCs we've been wearing, this helmet outperforms in the weight category. I haven't noticed the noise level, which means it's quiet enough for me. I've only taken it on short joy rides, but it's definitely comfy.

Awesome Helmet
This helmet is everything I've read and why I bought it. It's extremely comfortable, light and at these autobahn speeds here in Germany it's as steady as a rock! The fogging was as mentioned in other reviews, but I installed the pin-lock sys and fog insert....incredible how well it works!! The breath deflector was "okay", but the anti fog shield insert WORKS perfectly, no matter what the weather! Seriously, it works just that good!

After an Arai Helmet this is one of the Best on the market. I particularly like the optional nose/breath guard that prevents fogging and the optional chin net that blocks unwanted air flow up from the chin area into the helmet-especially on cold mornings.

Very Nice Helmet
I had a Nolan and HJC before this helmet and this is the best so far. It is lightweight and is very comfortable on the inside. Very good with wind noise up until the 65mph mark. Smaller profile than HJC and Nolan. Very satisfied.

Good helmet
High quality helmet. Fit was a little tight, so I bought a pair of smaller cheek pads and that made it more comfortable. It seems to have smaller shell dimension than my other HJC which is good. It certainly has a lot less drag while at highway speed than the HJC AC-11. The shield mechanism is awesome, taking out / popping in shield is so easy. It also have positive locking mechanism. It's not that particularly quiet, however. Maybe marginally better than the HJC.

Good but not perfect
I like this helmet very well, but it's not perfect. The ventilation systen works well, but the protruding vent parts cause considerable whistling. I covered the inside of the forehead vent holes with masking tape and improved the sound isolation immensely.

I just bought a RF1000. The vent system actually works. No tools needed to change the shield. Shield opens easily with a flip of a lever or locks in place. (I've had other helmets with face shields that would pop open when I turned my head.) Shoei Helmets has a great web site where you can order extra shields and cheek pads etc. This is an excellent helmet. They don't get much better than this.
