After purchasing this helmet I was pleasantly surprised with the features. I would recommend this helmet for a great price and extra features. The sunshield is easy to operate while moving and is dark enough for the glaring sun.

Perfect!... almost
This is a great helmet. I've removed the clear visor and use only the retractable tinted visor. I wear my prescription glasses underneath, so no need for sunglasses unless you want to double up when the sun is low. I wish the visor was tinted darker, or had other tints available. I also with it had an optional brow sunvisor one could install. Great features for the price! I have two silver ones, and one wine berry to match my wine Victory Vision!

I needed an open face helmet for my work as a motorcycle ref at bicycle races. This helmet works great for that application. After riding with this helmet for some time now, it has become my main helmet when commuting to work. It is comfortable and pretty quite. But what has sold me on this helmet is the amount of visibility you have when riding in traffic. You may give up some protection that a full face helmet offers, but you can see whats happening around you much better. I also like the built in sun shade. I don't need sunglasses with this helmet. Overall a great helmet for a great price.

The fit was just slightly on the large size but not enough to change sizes.
Excellent features!!!Would not change a thing about it.
Airflow, I can feel the air going thru the helmet.
It is a bit on the egg shape side, but nothing I can’t live with. Not bad ..really, just different from my old one.
Costs was almost double my other helmet, but this one has a much more sturdy flip shield AND the flip down/retractable sun shield is an excellent feature that makes it all worth the $$$ spent!!!

I bought it one size larger that my other HJC helmets and it still runs small. I tried another on in a store that was 2 sizes larger and it is still a tight fit. I think they got their sizing wrong. I have 3 other HJC helmets all size large but this Extra Large IS-33 is very tight and so is the Double Extra Large.

I love the sun shade that you can raise and lower on the helmet. It has great visibility on the sides and so far I love this thing. The price was very good also. I would buy this again in a heartbeat!

The helmet is very comfortable. The faceshield does not cover your chin if that is a concern. Helmet is quiet compared to my AC-3 with shield on. Sunvisor is excellant.
Fit is an issue. According to size charts as well as ALL my other HJC's I've worn over the years,XL should have been the size.I also ordered the same helmet for my brother and he experienced the same problem,they RUN SMALL! Order 1(one) size larger.

Great Helmet
This helmet is excellent, only one place for improvement really and that is the inside shade could stand to be a little darker. But as is, it is still excellent, just enough tint to tone the suns glare down. I am very happy with this helmet.

This is a great helmet, it fits perfectly and is super comfortable. The built in sun visor is a really handy feature. It eliminates the struggle of wearing sun glasses with your helmet. I would recommend this helmet to anyone.

Big, Big Fan of this Helmet & HJC!
My first helmet was a modular by HJC. It was a great value, and I've got tons of use out of it. I have a Fullface Arai but wanted to add an Open-face helmet to the mix. The Arai equivalent was $400+. I am super stoked on the IS-33. HJC has come a long way in the 5 years since I picked up my modular. The lining is phenomenal. Fit me perfectly and in accordance with sizing chart. The style is awesome, as well as the features. The price can't be beat. Super stoked on it! Equally stoked with HJC. Got my eye on the FS-15 as well. I love riding with the IS-33. Haven't worn anything else since I got it. Highly recommend.

The helmet fits great, the overall features of the helmet are excellent. The only problem I have had is in the air flow. The intake vents could be larger to improve the venting of the helmet.

Great helmet! Love it so far!
I have had this helmet for more than a month now. In fact, I bought two; one for me, and the other for my girlfriend. She absolutely loves to ride now more than ever since I bought her this helmet! The sun visor is a slick feature. I wish it was a touch darker, but it does the job by taking the bite out of the sun glare. Makes it much more comfortable to drive on the highway facing the sun when the sun is head on in the afternoon on the way back from work. With the flip of your finger, you bring down the internal sun visor and keep on ridin'! Likewise, you can press a button and the visor retracts in an instant when no longer needed. Comfort is great as this helmet seems to be a perfect fit for my head. This helmet is also quite quiet on the highway; probably one of the most quiet helmets on the market. My other helmet is an HJC full face, (for when it's a little chilly out), but the IS-33 one does a fine job keeping wind and noise out, which was surprising considering it is not a full face helmet. I highly recommend this helmet if you're looking for a bang-for-the-buck helmet solution with an internal sun visor. HJC has done it again!

Great Helmet
I replaced my 8 year old helmet with this and it's light and comfortable, and the peripheral vision is very good. Face shield is versatile to all conditions, and the pull down shades are way cool. I looked at the Shoei(?) and Arai and this is a great value, all the features you would want at a good price. My friend has already ordered one (in another color of course!)

This is my first helmet and it's a winner!
I was told not to skimp on a helmet by a few fellow riders, but I really couldn't afford to spend $500 on a Shoei or similar helmet. Found this helmet and was immediately sold on the price, features, and look. I have a smaller than average head, so my only complaint is that I look a bit like Vader in it. Other than that, this helmet is comfortable, quiet, and I say enough about the adjustable sunshades. For $125 you just can't beat it!

I have had my helmet for about a month now and wear it every day. It fits great and since I wear glasses, the inner sunshield is a great feature. Have had no trouble with fogging at all. One word of advice, if you wear glasses be sure to retract the inner shield before you take helmet off....it can catch on your glasses.

Too Much Wind Noise
Helmet fits nicely and has some good features. But Sun Shield does not go down low enough to block glare coming in from the bottom. Still need to wear sunglasses. Biggest complaint is the wind noise. I ride a Roadliner and can't hear the engine over the wind. There is no internal set up for intercom system as well. Will only use with cold weather and ear plugs. Would not buy again.

I went from not wearing a helmet to always wearing this one, it is light weight but the internal shield has been the best feature. I ride mostly back 2 lane roads so sun comes and goes so being able to sun block and not with one finger is fantastic. Hope it comes out in a shorty version.

Great Helmet
I'm picking up riding again after about 20 years, just got myself a '77 Goldwing, needed a helmet and the IS 33 was at my doorstep this afternoon. I'm really glad I got this one, the top of my head was nice and cool and I love the interior visor, it even went down over my glasses. The look of the matte black helmet is great, probably a little aggressive for my current ride but I'm planning on an autumn upgrade... B King here I come. Anyway, if I had one gripe it would have to be my appearance in the mirror, I wear an XXL and it shows; my remedy of course is to stay away from mirrors. In conclusion, I suggest you buy this helmet, there's no way any helmet of similar style can really justify costing $100-$200 more. Save your cash and buy a jacket and gloves... and dinner.

I love the helmet. I have a headset installed, & with this helmet there is very little wind noise & I can hear very clearly, not like my previous helmet. This helmet does run small though, so I had to order one size larger than I normally wear.

I like the helmet, the fit is tight, it looks good, I really like the drop down inner shaded visor. There is a lot of air noise at higher speeds is the only drawback for me, overall the helmet is great.

My only complaint is that there seems to be a lot of noise going on in the helmet. Might be from the sun shade mechanism on the top of the helmet?

For the price, you'd be hard pressed to find a better helmet
This helmet has everything you could possible want, and then some. The fit is snug, but comfortable and true to size. The visor, when locked down, reduces a significant amount of noise for a 3/4 helmet. The flip smoke shades are a fantastic addition. With my previous 3/4 helmet, I rode w/ a clear visor and dark shades. With this setup, I ride with a visor smoke shield from Fog City and the flip smoke shades for the perfect amount of sun/glare reduction. I definitely recommend this setup for anyone since wearing shades can sometimes be an annoyance. My only minor complaint is the slight egg-head shape of the helmet. But then again, nearly all 3/4 helmets are designed this way, and this one isn't *that* bad as far as egg shapes go. Bottom line - for the money, you are getting an excellent product. +1 for HJC on this one.

I love the drop down lenses for when it's sunny out. So easy to put them down and up. The helmet is very nice looking and high quality. The only thing is that I feel like it allows more wind to hit my face than my old helmet (also a 3/4 helmet). Another thing I liked better on my old helmet was that it had a sort of shade attachment on top of the face shield. This actually protected the shield so I could have it open and not worry about it getting scratched when I set it down. Now I have to be a lot more careful when I set my helmet down to avoid scratching the visor/face shield if its open.

Love it!!! The sunscreen is wonderful. The helmet fits great and is very quiet. The holes for air flow were not drilled all the way through...after I fixed that, the air flow was great too. All in all, a great helmet.

I am DONE!
My 5 year helmet search is over. I have a Shoei Multitech for cold weather riding. It is my perfect flip up helmet. It is too warm though for summer. I have been looking for a perfect 3/4 helmet with a face shield and with the flip down sunshield. I found it in the IS-33! The fit and comfort are great. Very little wind noise with a windshield and no ear plugs. The sunshield is terrific. I was able to install my Scala Rider mic and speakers in about 5 minutes with only slight trimming of the cloth portion of the cheek pads. Great job HJC.

HJC IS-33 is fantastic!
From the first time I saw the HJC IS-33 with the internal retractable sun shield I had to have one. Once acquired, it lived up to every bit of my expectations. The internal retractable sun shield virtually eliminated the need for sunglasses. Retract and you can ride at night with the clear external flip up wind screen. Easy to operate too.
That said the only down fall was finding a headset that would fit inside the helmet without having to cut and modify it. After trying two J&M headsets and almost giving up I found an IMC Goldwing Headset whose speakers were thin enough to fit without cutting or modification.
I give the helmet a solid '5'.

Can’t say anything bad about this helmet. The fit right from the box was perfect for me, although be sure to measure you head at least 5 time to be absolutely sure. It helped going to You Tube and watching a couple of reviews on the helmet. After receiving it I was really happy with the over all fit and finish. The interior comes out for easy cleaning, and the visor is the easiest I have ever owned to remove and re-install. This is the first HJC product i have owned, and would recommend it to every one. I will definitely buy another HJC helmet in the future (hopefully they'll make a dual sport helmet).

my husband and i both purchased one of these helmets, they do run small in size, order next size up, love the shield, and my husband loves it cause the shield can be removed easily, i love the sun shield, looks great on, and air flow is nice, would recommend this to anyone who likes a face shield helmet.

Fits a wide range of heads. As a second helmet it is very good for most passengers, and I use it as well when I don't need my full face. Is a large outside shell so it makes your head larger than similar helmets of other Mfr. The slide down sun shield is fantastic - but it snaps back too easily and presses on my nose in its full down position - fortunately there are three "down" positions. Face shield allows side air in if there is a side breeze. Produces a lot of wind noise like most helmets, and vents are very small, but do close tight when it is chilly. OK ventilation while moving unless really sunny or hot.

This is a very good helmet for the dollar. The overall fit and finish is outstanding. The helmet works really well in windy conditions, as well as rain. It's very comfortable, and being able to remove the liner for cleaning is a nice touch. This helmet is a good value overall.

Bang for the buck
HJC has always made some of the best lids for the money - the new IS-33 is the same. The flip down sun shade is effective - but still lets a lot of wind to the eyes (I still prefer sunglasses). Still when you don't have shades - this a good feature. Fit is good and it breaths well. The shield is not a thick / scratch resistant as the Arai SZ-Ram but its Ok. Its quiet, good looking and affordable. Comfortable enough for all day wear - and good visibility. Almost as good as the Arai at 1/3 the price.

I just started riding motorcycles and I realized that I couldn't get used to the restricted view of my full faced helmet. So I bought the HJC helmet to use while I get more comfortable and confident with my bike. With this helmet I have a much better view of my surroundings. And I really like the built in shades.

Very Nice
I've been looking at this helmet for a while now but was leery of the sizing chart. I wear a medium, yet the chart called for a small based on my hat size. I decided to go to a local dealer and try this helmet on. First off, don't go by the sizing chart. The small was much too tight and the medium was a perfict fit. You can purchase different sized cheek pads for a custom fit on this helmet and the liner is removable for washing. My understanding from the dealer is that the shell size of the small and medium is the same, it's the inside that is different. I don't know how true that is as you can't really tell with the helmets side by side. Now to the helmet itself. The fit and finish are superb and it's a very solid, comfortable helmet. The outside visor flips up unlike many open face helmets with a snap-on visor. A very nice feature if you're like me and where glasses. The inside sun visor is just another quality touch to this already outstanding helmet. The slide for the inside visor in the very top of the helmet and easy to manipulate, even with gloves. Slide the button forward and the inside visor comes down. Release the slide and pull it forward again and the visor comes down even further.

The helmet fits great. Had to return a large for a medium. No hassle return and the medium fit perfect. Not sure about the sun visor, even in the lowest setting the bottom edge of the visor is in my line of sight. Overall I really like the helmet and have had many positive comments.
