Great helmet for the price
Great helmet, Love the fit, great air flow. It does have more noise and turbulence due to the visor than my HJC without the visor. Overall I really like this helmet and certainly will be the preferred helmet to wear in the summer off road riding.

All the reviews are right on. The fit is the biggest issue for me, I wear a medium and bought a medium and I don't like it, yet I don't think I could go a size either way. There is a little distortion which is more noticable with shades on. The strap sucks! Bottom line is that I am going to use it, but its the last one. The Motorcycle Superstore is still my favorite place to shop online.

This is a nice fitting helmet and it breathes really well. I live in Florida and was a little apprehensive about buying a flat-black helmet but it looked really sharp and had the right price. Air flow is so good that I don't even notice any extra heat from the color.

Good for the money!
I normally wear an XL in Shoei, and ordered one in the AFX, but it was really big and I returned it for a Large that fit great. I would say the AFX sizing is similar to HJC in fit.
I love the way the helmet looks and fits, and my only complaint is the visor. It's distorted as other have mentioned. First time I put it down, it made me feel sick looking through it. I use goggles most of the time and just use the visor for high speed and rain.
For the price, I think it's a good helmet and despite the visor issue, it's probably my favorite to date.

Glad I got it!
This is a good product for the price. Got one for me and one for my Bride. She wears glasses, and doesn't have any problems wearing them with the helmet. Fit is good, well ventilated. Foggy occasionally when stopped, but clears out as soon as you get moving. A slight aberration exists in the shield, but I found that I really had to look for it. My wife and I both dual-sport and short of dropping 800.00 for 2 helmets, the FX-37 really fits the bill. Again, it's a good product for the price!

Pretty good for the price tag
Like everyone's said, the fit is odd. I think people, in general, buy ill-fitting helmets. With this brand, you have to measure your head, use the AFX chart and then go up one size. My measurements called for a Med. It wasn't too tight but the pressure points on my forehead and lower back of my head were literally painful and headache causing. I returned for a LG and it was fine!
The airflow is so good, you can't ride when it's below 50 degrees or you'll get brain freeze. Perfect for milder temps at a minimum. I wish the vents had shut-off sliders but I guess gaffers tape will have to do.
The helmet isn't too loud or too quiet. If I were running a loud bike or on a long trip, I'd supplement with ear plugs.
The windshield distortion is barely noticeable to me. I can see it in some areas but not bad or bothersome enough for me to return it. The benefits and cost of this DualSport helmet is worth the minuses.

snap for strap broke after approx 1 month
I previously rated this helmet highly. I bought this helmet as a co-worker had one and I liked the look of it and he said it was a nice helmet for the money. Yesterday after I got home and took my helmet off the snap for the chin strap just FELL OFF. I told my friend about it today and he said the same thing happened to his about a month ago. NOT HAPPY AT ALL

Potential of being a great winter helmet
Just got one of these and I'm very satisfied. I also bought the Shoei Hornet DS and they are comparable, in my opinion (with only a few minor issues). The peak in particular is very strong. I got up to 90 on the highway this morning without any problems. I expected the peak to act like a sail or worse, tear off. Take a look at the peak on the Arai dual sport helmet and you can appreciate this one. I don't recommend going that fast with this type of helmet, but it was a good test, since I sometimes return home with the typical flow of traffic on I-25 in the evenings (80 mph or more).
As far as helmet fit, it fits me well. I got it a little large to accommodate my balaclava. Reading the reviews, some have had a problem with the fit, so I recommend the videos on youtube dealing with the subject.

At first this helmet hurt my head and the visor seemed to distort my vision. The chin strap is very cheap but works. After a week of use I really like this helmet.

Looks great but does not work for me
I didn't believe what people said about the distortion in the lower face shield until I tried the helmet. I bought this for dual sport riding and almost puked when I had it on pavement from the elongating and waves in my lower field of vision. The medium was too tight on the sides and the large was still a bit tight on the forehead. This is not for round headed folks.

Surprised it worked so well
I have always used Helmets with goggles for any offroad riding. Been doing DS riding now and was looking for a helmet that had a visor but could also use goggles. I like that that the goggles can be worn without removing the shield if needed. Did not need to use the goggles. The shield worked well even in dusty conditions. Good ventilation, good comfort, Looks good and is several hundred dollars less then it's competitors. We have only worn them for about 250 miles of DS riding and so far so good.

Had to return
Bought the XL as per other review when normally I’m an L. The helmet fit was pretty, slightly too large if anything but the L would definitely have been too small. The chin strap was very uncomfortable, so I had to return the helmet. It's set further back compared to other helmets and therefore dug into my neck. My friend who also wears my size helmet tried it on and on his head the strap sat on his Adam’s apple making it even more uncomfortable for him. Otherwise the helmet was good for the price and I would have kept it. This site has a great returns policy (costs $6.99 and you just drop it off at UPS), so trying it and returning is no big deal.

great helmet, few caveats
Overall, the fit is great for my average round head. It is snug everywhere, doesn't move around. It does get some buffeting from the visor, but I expected that. There is some distortion in the shield, as others have mentioned, but you have to be looking for it, this happened with the clear and smoked shields. My only real problem is that the chin straps are set too close to the neck , so it is kind of a pain to get used to wearing with a riding jacket, which puts a lot of material in the bend of your neck. It gets fairly hot while sitting, but when moving, I can barely tell I have it on, and its light weight help that fact too.

Great helmet for the money
I went back and forth on a couple of different brands and models when buying a helmet. I didn't want to deal with goggles while driving my enduro on regular roads, but I also didn't want to have to deal with two different helmets. As it turns out, this helmet meets the requirements. For hard-core off-road riders this helmet might come up short, but for an occasional weekend warrior like me this is a great helmet.
My only 2 beefs would be that a) there is no quick-connect for the strap (easy enough to rectify) and b) I'd wish for the face shield to come up a bit more. Right now it is always in your vision, which can be distracting at times.
In short: a good deal for the money. Very pleased with my purchase and the service I received from MCS.

Great Helmet for a hundred bucks!
The Fit of the Helmet is a bit tight at the forehead to begin with although with a bit of break in it seats much better. I am glad I took the advice of many others on the sizing of the helmet as it is not the same sizing as a HJC. I went with one size larger and it’s the perfect snug fit.
I wish you could control the airflow in the front with a closing slide as it does have almost too much airflow on the roads above 40mph.
Air flow is great if you’re only riding dirt and connecting trails on the roads or riding city roads. This will never be my winter helmet as all the airflow rushes past my ears and you cannot control it from the front of the helmet.
Great appearance!!
Yes I would do it again for 100 bucks.

Great budget-minded helmet.
Received in four days. Owned for a month now. Tired of debris and the sun in my eyes from a Street style helmet. If you've been riding with a MX style helmet at highway speeds (60-80+mph) then you are familiar with "head lift" due to the long, flat peak on those helmets. This one does have some lift, but greatly reduced over a MX and is tolerable up to 70mph or so. Fit and finish is excellent. Sizing chart was correct for the crown of my head, though as I had read in numerous other reviews, the cheek pads are a tad snug. Others tell me that they will "wear in" over time to the shape of my face. It's very light. Also, as in other reviews, I have noticed a slight visual distortion when looking straight forward at the horizon where the sharpest part of the visor meets the chin guard piece. I only notice it for about 2 minutes when I first move the visor down, then you're used to it. I would definitely buy again at 103.99

The fit is a little odd. I exchanged my size XL for a superXL. The strap is a little too far back for my taste. But it is really pretty quiet. And with the optional gray shield the view outbound is awesome. Great helmet for the price. And not to forget Motorcycle Superstore, their service is exceptional.

good fit, a little loud
A good helmet for the price. It fits pretty well, although after about an hour and a half, I’m ready for it to come off. But I suppose any helmets that way. It vents well, and the wide open cutaway gives you a good peripheral view. I ordered the mirrored visor as well. The visor is a nice feature for riding straight into the sun. If you can get over, or get down with, looking like you stepped out of Halo, you're going to like this helmet.

FX-37 DS Helmet Great Price!
I have used this helmet for about three weeks and really enjoy the face shield feature on this helmet. It is nice to flip down the face shield and be protected. The only complaint I have is the strange fit across the upper brow area and the placement of the chin strap. I would highly recommend this helmet for someone looking for a cost effective alternate to wearing a full face MX helmet.

Be careful of distorted view off road.
I bought this helmet for dual-sport riding because it looks great and the price was right. It fits me a bit tight at the forehead. I didn't notice this on the first short ride. I should have opted for a large. The BIG issue is that I just returned from riding gravel roads and the view from the visor was incredibly distorted to the point where I had to stop riding, flip up the visor and let my eyes readjust. It's hard to explain, but I felt like I was constantly drifting off the road. It only happened on gravel roads.

AFX DS Helmet
I purchased an ‘08 WR250R thumper and was using my street helmet (KBC Gunslinger). Wanting to complete the look, I wanted a DS helmet. I ordered the AFX lid and am happy I did so. It's loud though but earplugs help on the road. The fit is different than my street lid but I expected that and find that it is comfortable after a few weeks of wearing, one thing I think I screwed up on is sizing. I measured my head and fell just short of an XL so I ordered the large. Had I ordered the XL, I believe the fit would have been perfect rather than taking a few weeks to adjust. I get alot of compliments on the looks and I like having the visor and shield combination. Overall this is a nice helmet and I feel motorcycle superstore offered the best prices, even beating any finds on e-bay! Buy it.

AFX-FX-37 DS Helmet
This helmet is awesome for the price. There are only a few manufactures making this style helmet and the other guys are charging a price I would never pay. As I replace my helmets every two years. If your normal fit is a large I would recommend getting the x-large. I ride a KTM 990 Adventure and this is the perfect helmet for my riding style and bike. I have a friend who has the same style which cost him just under a thousand bucks and at the end of the day there both the same. Only concern is the base curve on the visor as it distorts a little but being in the optical industry that’s hard to get around do to the curve. But I read that their planning to release a newer lens. But don’t quote me on that. It’s a great buy. I'm very happy and in two years I’d buy another. Ron

Nice idea- but didn't work for me
I really liked the look and price of this helmet, and I have a friend who has one and really likes it, but I returned mine. It seemed to be shaped for a narrow head and caused severe pressure points on my forehead. There's not much padding in that area either. The chin strap is very uncomfortable- way too far back. However, don't be afraid to try it if you have a narrow head- they've got a great return policy here

MX helmet
I really love this helmet. It's a big plus for the field of vision you have and the shield that can go up and down. Not like the other mx helmets that requires goggles. Probably, those are great for the dirt races but not for the streets. It's also a lot better than the sport helmets. Especially, for the dual sport bikes. I got a lot of compliments on it. With the mirror tinted shield, it looks like I'm the character from the PC game Halo. It does have some nice air flow through the helmet when you're moving but in humid days here in New York you must lift that shield up because it gets very hot.

Good bang for your money.
Good looking, good price, go one size larger than your regular helmet. Don’t try to go over 80mph, it’s not a race helmet. Chin strap on a “not conventional position”, and shield has a little distortion.

AFX - FX-37 DS Helmet
I liked the style and price of the helmet and really wished I could have kept it, but a few things made me have to return it. One major thing was the way the shield distorted my vision. It was hard to notice indoors when trying it out, but out riding, it became very distracting, bordering on dangerous if off road. I read other reviews stating this, but I guess I had to see it for myself. It is usable but annoying. I think I got the wrong size for my head despite measuring properly. It went on ok and felt good but I noticed after a while that it seemed to sit kind of high on my head and the chin strap was too far back which caused the strap rest at where the chin meets the neck, making it sort of useless for holding the helmet on tight. This made for a scary ride on the freeway where the wind wanted to lift up on the visor and the only thing holding the helmet on was the snug fit to my head. So, if your head is on the borderline between medium and large, maybe go large.

snug, bad and good points
Fit is definitely tight. I usually wear a Large Nolan 102 for my road bike. I needed an XL in this and it was still a little snug, especially in the upper forehead region. Also tried the XXL and it was definitely too loose. I normally wear a large or XL hat, depending on the maker. I wanted a DS helmet and don't ride my DS a lot so this works fine. Good appearance. The distortion in the shield is only bad where the shield is formed to align with the chin structure and I have to be looking downward for it to be noticed.

Excellent value!
Amazing value, and a great looking helmet. Get’s lots of compliments. Fit is snug, if your current helmet is tight, order a size up. I bought this for rainy days since I ride with an open face MX helmet but the AFX has become my daily helmet. Much quieter than an open face, but not the quietest helmet on the market. The shield is very curved which while not an optical defect can be distracting at first. Strap is extremely long. Overall, very happy with it. Quality easily matches my $300 open face helmet. Buy this instead of an XD or Hornet and go buy an XBox 360 with the $400 you save.

I have owned several AFX helmets and jumped when this one was released. The helmet itself generally fits my head quite well, although I'm aware of the pads touching the tops of my ears. The strap is long and far back, but that was solved by adding an Echo quick release. The front of the helmet is well ventilated of course but the rear doesn't seem exceptionally so. The visor is very functional, and my wife says I look like a Storm Trooper in it.

A great helmet for the money.
I really like this helmet. It fits perfect, its light, good airflow above 30mph, though on slow technical trails it gets pretty warm. 55-60mph days on secondary roads you don't notice the helmet bill unless you need it. On 75mph interstate days it does catch some turbulence when passing trucks, on a long ride it will make your neck tired. I wouldn't change anything about this helmet. It's a great dual-sport helmet.

Dual Sport Helmet
Wasn't sure I wanted a "dual sport" helmet. However, on a ride from Florida to California the afternoon sun was blinding. I felt that the "bill" of a DS would shade my eyes. I just returned from a 700 mile Florida trip w/ the AFX FX37. My helmet of choice has always been Shoei. The AFX fit my XL as well as the Shoei, w/ the exception of the cheek pads. Though they became more comfortable after the first 400 miles. Some RR have mentioned distortion in the visor. My clear visor had no such distortion. The temps were in the 80's and humid. The helmet flowed cool air well. The FX37 is no noisier than the Shoei brand. I expected some buffeting w/ the "bill". But, this did not occur until my speeds were above 70. The buffeting was not excessive. This is an excellent value for the money.

This helmet was sold out till late April 09. It fit perfect and was of much higher quality. Maybe the one I received was a factory mistake or just an earlier version but I was really happy with the one I recently received. Amazing deal. There is a little optical distortion but there’s no doubt AFX will produce a replacement visor later in the year. Buy this helmet if you ride a supermoto or enduro and still wear your MX helmet. You won’t be disappointed, just know they run small and consider buying a size up from what your used to.

AFX - FX-37 DS Helmet
I usually wear a large but purchased a XL and I'm glad I did. The padding seems a little thin. The chin strap is long but the D-ring side is too short. Air flow is excellent but noisy. The appearance is as good as any DS helmet but there is some slight distortion in the clear shield. Overall, this is a great bang for the buck!

My Two Cents
Great looking helmet, great price. I do think the cost of the tinted shield is high considering the noticeable optical wave within the rider's vision. Fit is slight too tight for me according to AFX measurement chart but, it may loosen up after time. The chin strap on the helmet will now be called "throat strap" since it's so far back. Other than those commonly mentioned issues, I think it's priced just right considering...
If those issues were resolved, I'd probably spend another 100 dollars for it.

Pulled the trigger on this helmet after seeing in a local dealer and he recommended it also. I had my eye on it and the cost was right on for my budget. Since I ride trails and woods mostly, getting use to the full face view was the one issue. It's new and we'll see how it holds up to my commute rides through this season. I would recommend this cost effective investment for your head. I have not tried it with the shield off and goggles. Not really what I bought it for. Good luck with yours.

great buy
i got the helmet because i couldn't afford the high end brand, dual sport helmets. Turns out it's better than i thought. the sizing was dead on with other brands, such as 661, and fox, it's true to size. Other reviews said that there was a visual distortion in the lens; i have not found that to be true at all, it's great. the only flaw is there is a lot of wind noise from the vents, so i put tape over some for the cool temps, and to reduce noise. definitely a great buy.

Good helmet for the price.
The AFX FX-37DS fit well, has clean design lines, and appears to be good bang for the buck. The face shield creates a little distortion in the lower view section, but for the most part that's not a problem. The chin strap seems to be a bit further back than most, but again, not a show stopper. Money well spent compared to other DS helmets.

The AFX looks like a great alterative until you slide it over your head. I immediately noticed the odd chin strap location and really long strap. I can live with that, but the fabric head liner is not attached to the inside of the helmet. This causes the helmet to slide back and forth on your head. The XD liner snaps to the impact foam and does not move. Such a simple design feature that renders this helmet unacceptable. Too bad, for the price it would suffice for a beater off-road helmet. Maybe I am spoiled by my Arai XD, but even my MX helmet liners don't move like the AFX. Since I view it as a disposable, I cured the slippage, but I wouldn't bother with another one and I could not recommend it.

Nice Helmet but Rough at Freeway Speeds and Some Optical Distortion
I'm very happy with this purchase given the features and price. The helmet isn't terribly noisy and the fit and finish are good. My biggest issue is that at freeway speeds the peak catches the wind if you turn your head. That's probably fine as this is more of an offroad helmet anyway. The other big one is that the face shield has moderate optical distortion that takes a while to get used to. Overall for the price I'd recommend this to others with the caveats above.

Nice helmet for the price
I was looking for a supermoto type helmet but would never pay the 500 that the other manufacturers are asking. So for around 100 I figured I'd give this one a shot. The fit is outstanding, very comfortable, very attractive helmet. There is some buffeting in high winds and at high speed but that is to be expected and is not as bad as I thought it would be. My only complaint (and it's a minor one) is that the snap for the chin strap is nearly flush with the strap and is hard to locate. Other than that this is an excellent helmet for the money.

Nice Helmet - Terrible Fit
I had high hopes for this helmet... but after trying two sizes it is still way too tight on the forehead while loose on the sides. I do enough long distance riding to know that any slight pressure point just sitting on your head will turn very uncomfortable or even painful after a few hours of the wind beating on it. If I had a perfectly round head maybe, but who does? Not many D/S helmets out there and this one is truly a bargain, but good luck with the fit.

It's all in all one heck of a helmet.
I found the sizing of my head was different from the sizing chart. I ordered a small and should have a Medium. The Helmet is very good for what I am using it for. I just took it 600 miles and was very pleased. The helmet didn’t rip my head off when I stood above my windshield. It is a little loud when your at speeds. I never had a problem with the lens fogging. When it rained, the water stayed outside. The lens seems optically correct. For the money, everyone should own one of these.

AFX FX-37ds Helmet
Price was great, the helmet is very cheaply made, and it feels like a block of wood on your head. The padding is very minimal. The good. It is very light weight. The shield and visor work nice for leisurely riding. It covers my head and makes me legal. I hope I never have to depend on it to save my head. I am looking again for a better quality with the same style of helmet.

AFX - FX-37DS Helmet
The helmet looks and fits nice, the neck strap is a little awkward, it sits back more than most of my helmets, and it goes across the top of my Adams apple. Nice finish, but the AFX decal is under the clear coat for those who would want to remove it, this is a no-go. Great value for the price the only thing that looks like a $100 helmet is the neck strap, it is a little thin and way too long, at least it has a snap to keep the end from flapping in the breeze. Great price compared to the Shoei Hornet and Arai XD. I would recommend this to anyone, my other 2 helmets are Shoei, I wear a large in the Shoei and the large AFX - FX-37DS Helmet fits very well. Weight of the large is 3.4lbs according to my luggage scale.

For such a low price, you cannot get a better duel sport helmet. I liked my first one soo much, this is my second. This Black one has the Dark visor and my silver one has the light visor. I wear a large in both Shoei and Arai and also a large in this AFX FX-37DS.

This is a great helmet for the price. It has a great fit, feels good and in higher speeds on the road stays stable.

Great Helmet!!!!
I bought this helmet because it had features of both a motocross helmet and street bike helmet. Great fit, looks cool, and the ability to open and close the face shield is great!!!

Great Helmet
This is a great value helmet. Good fit, quiet and comfortable. Wide viewing takes getting used to. It does tend to fog up in the rain at low speeds.

AFX-DS HELMET
Great looking helmet with an excellent finish. The manufactures sizing is way-off in my opinion. I normally wear a large in Arai, HJC, Shoei, but it took a XL in the AFX to fit me properly, and the cheek pads are still on the snug side. For the $$ it's a great buy.

AFX-FX-37DS Helmet
If you want a duel sport helmet but don't want to spend $400 on a Shoie or Aria this is it. It has a good fit but keep in mind it runs about a half size large. The liner doesn’t feel real soft at first but that goes away quickly. The best part of riding with this helmet is it refuses to fog once moving. If it fogs at all while sitting at a stop light it will be clear before you cross the intersection. I'm totally happy with this helmet.

AFX-FX-37DS Helmet
I recently ordered this helmet in a size medium (my normal helmet size). The helmet has a very tight fit in the forehead area, too tight, in fact. I believe a large would be too sloppy of a fit everywhere else. The helmet has a nice finish, good ventilation and is priced well. The only complaint I have is with the forehead area being unusually tight.

AFX-FX37 DS Helmet
Excellent value-priced helmet. Lacking in a few features, such as being unable to close the front vent and face shield should be "notched" to allow opening and leaving the shield in various open positions while riding. However, great value and will be buying more of these in the future if the price stays right.
