Nice Helmet
This was my first helmet purchase in over 25 years. I am familiar with Shoei and I wanted to go with a name brand for quality and safety reasons. I tried on over a dozen others before deciding on the RF-1000. This one fit the best, even better than some that cost twice as much.
Since it is in the middle of the winter right now I haven't had a chance to see how cool it keeps my head in hot weather but with all of the adjustable vents I'm sure it will keep me cool. On the flip side my head is not cold with the vents closed while I'm riding at 35F degrees.
The only thing that I've found that slightly irritates me is the screen does fog very easily. I've read the same comment from other RF-1000 owners. Even with the breath guard in place it fogs at low speed or when stopped. It was a foggy day and cold, so maybe this will correct itself when the temps go up. Maybe I can get some anti fog spray and correct the problem. In the meantime I ride with the shield open one click at low speed and that seems to work. Other than that I'm happy with my purchase. As others have said you get what you pay for.

Outstanding Helmet
I just got back into riding last summer and started out with the $120 Vega. It fell off the couch at a friend's, so I was concerned about the shell being damaged. After a lot of research I decided on the Shoei - RF-1000. Air flow is amazing in Texas' 100 degree weather. It's actually cooler with the face shield down. The noise level is twice as quiet as the Vega and the head stability at highway speed is vastly superior. After 2 weeks, I couldn't be happier with the helmet. Yes, it's over 3 times as expensive as other helmets, but you truly get what you pay for. Note: Sizes run a bit smaller than the Vega. Had to return the XXL for the XL. Also, Motorcycle Superstore makes the return process extremely easy.
