Really happy with this purchase. The helmet is expensive, but I think I got what I paid for, in this instance. Have not tried to remove the screws for the visor I keep reading about, but I assume they're plastic to break-away in the event of a fall. Great fitting helmet!

Sizing is true
I agree with the positive reviews of this helmet but I have to disagree with those who say to order one size larger. I ordered one size larger and it was too big. When I ordered the size I usually do, it fit perfectly.
The helmet is typical Shoei, beautifully built and finished. I bought this to use with the Raven color Yamaha Super Tenere I have on order. The sale price here at MCSS sealed the deal for me.

Shoei - Hornet DS Sonora
The overall quality is very good on this helmet. The face shield seals nicely when closed and it does not feel too heavy. The fit is different than my Shoei RF 900. My RF 900 is a large and fits well. When I originally ordered a large Hornet it was way too tight especially around the jaw area and the ear pockets. I returned the large and ordered and X-Large, which fits much better. I would recommend ordering 1 size larger than your normal street helmet.

Shoei Hornet DS Helmet
This the best helmet I have purchased for on/off road riding. Light weight,good visabilty. Shoei's size cart runs small. I was told to order the next size up and the fit was perfect.

Near Perfect
I love the Shoei helmets as they fit my head perfectly and seem fairly light weight. It is surprisingly quiet. The first critique of this helmet that it would be loud, but I think the wind noise is quite minimal. I do wish the visor was a bit longer, but that's really just the style of this helmet. If I really want a longer visor, I need to go with a true dirt helmet. My major complaint is with the screws that hold the visor in place. They are plastic and one broke on me the first time I removed it. Kind of hard to find replacement parts in Kenya. The other minor irritation is that my Oakley goggles barely fit after removing the shield. I have some Smith goggles I need to try out as well. The Oakleys are pretty big. I've already rigged a new screw and put the shield back in place. It's much quieter, I wear sun glasses and it's perfect.

Good visibility visor with little wind noise with chin guard installed. Tight in cheeks but good after a little use. Will order a smoked visor as clear is very bright. Will buy again

This helmet has turned out to be all I expected. Great chilly morning venting at the chin bar. Top of the helmet ventilation cools your bean on the hot days. Overall a great fitting...great looking helmet. It has started more conversations than my unusually good looks have!! HA!
