Tight fit but usable

My new helmet seems pretty tight but I would rather have it that way than too loose. I figure once I get it "broke-in" the fit will be snug but not so tight. It was the best helmet that I could afford. I don't understand why people pay a lot for their cycle and go cheap on the helmet? My brains are valued quite highly by myself!

Excellent Helmet

To start with, a quibble; The box the helmet arrived in was marked "large", the helmet itself was marked 'medium'. It is medium, and lucky for me that worked. The helmet is noisier than I expected - air leaks in from the bottom. Otherwise - it is superb in every way.

Glad to have this in colder weather.

Great helmet. It's not cheap, but how much is your head worth? Mine is worth a lot more than $500. Easy to switch face shield, great fit even though I wear glasses. I really can't speak to durability but can make an assumption based on past Shoei helmets I've worn.

Safe. Very Safe.

If near the next size, order up. Buy a hat to hide the cornrows the crown padding will give you. Cheekpad size numbers go DOWN as the size goes UP? You'll never be able to close the shield. BUT YOU WILL BE INCREDIBLY SAFE.

Good Helmet, not Great

Having owned several modular helmets over the past 20 years, I thought to try a Shoei brand modular. I have since put 10,000 miles under it and thus far it’s a good helmet, but not great. Compared to other brands the overall quality of the Shoei is very high. The helmet feels very safe and secure while worn. It’s very quiet at speed and does not leak. However, I have found the helmet feels a tad short, as it could be longer. There is considerable wind/draft that comes up under the helmet. The ventilation is seriously lacking. Too warm in summer and you will need to keep the visor cracked in the winter to stop it from fogging up. The Shoei D-ring style closure is way out of date. Almost all helmets today use some sort quick locking mechanism. For the higher cost of the Shoei compared to other modulars on the market, you are paying for the high safety standard and as we all know you cannot put a price on that.

Great helmet.

This is a great helmet. I feel very well protected when wearing it, and the quality of Shoei shines through. The front face shield and visor have a very positive action, and are easy to operate. This helmet is a little heavy, but you get used to the weight very quickly. I will certainly stick with Shoei helmets.

Shoei modular helmet

Love the helmet so far. The only potential concerns are fogging of the shield in cold weather and may benefit from more ventilation when the weather warms up.

Helmet Update

I love the fit of the helmet and comfort/fit after a few thousand miles of use. The only problem with this helmet is ventilation. There needs to be more ventilation in this helmet it only has two adjustments one on the chin piece and one on the upper forehead area of the helmet. Not sure if this is going to be comfortable once summer begins. So far at 80 degrees it is pushing the limits of comfort. Also in the 30 & 40 degree range due to limited ventilation it tends to fog up inside and if you wear glasses, you will need to ride with the visor partially open to keep thing clear.

Shoei Multitec Modular Helmet

I ride both sport and cruiser motorcycles and I use this helmet for both bikes. The helmet fits really well and the air vents are well placed. It was on the higher side of modular helmets but I feel it was worth the money. I would buy it again!
