Very Good for the Price
The biggest problem is that the visor and the helmet don’t play well together. The visor does not create a perfect seal with the helmet so you will have air coming in and hitting your eyes. This is a problem when its cold b/c cold air tends to make your eyes water a lot more. In warmer months, it’s not bad. The second problem with the visor/helmet relationship is how quickly the helmet scuffs the visor. From opening and closing the visor, the helmet has made brush marks all along the top of the visor. About an inch of brush marks that run all along the top of the visor, on the inside of the visor. Other than that, the chin-strap material isn’t as nice/comfortable as other helmets I’ve worn (Shoei), and the breath guard stinks of plastic (it can be removed though). No vents up top but there are vents in chin guard. On the plus side: $50 sale price, Snell & DOT approved, removable liner for easy cleaning, able to put my glasses on/off while wearing helmet. I bought the size that is one higher than the size chart recommends for me, and it is snug but comfortable. I recommend this helmet. Great bang for the buck. Note that it has a flat black (not glossy) type of look/finish.

Good Helmet, Great Deal
I bought this helmet to replace my over used "beater" day-to-day helmet. It's more than worth the price I paid for it. The fit is good. The amount of airflow is great, but that means that there is also a lot of noise. Wear this with earplugs or ear buds. There are no top vents. The breath deflector hits up against my nose, but it's not uncomfortable. The padding is generous and comfortable.

Helmet is light and comfortable. Does not fog up which is a huge plus. Only downside is that I didn't notice the two skulls on the front when I purchased. Skull and crossbones doesn't go that well with my little red scooter, but it does protect my head!

Great price
The helmet interior seems to be oblong shaped, which works for me. It's a bit of a tight fit, but I had no real discomfort. My longest ride was 35 minutes so far. I have a little trouble putting my glasses on while wearing it, but I can do it. I haven't yet tried to wear my fitover sunglasses over my glasses yet. I wonder if the helmet will accommodate them. The graphics are a little more gray-blue than the website pictures, and a bit "busier" in person than I was expecting. I usually like a more plain helmet, but at this cost (49.99), I can't complain. The radioactivity graphic looks very good and I got a lot of compliments on it. It seems to have no reflectivity, so I'll probably buy some 3M stickers for night riding. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase.

Solid Helmet for the Price
I bought this because it was super cheap (for a helmet) and it looked pretty sweet. My other HJC was really big and bulky at a large, but fit my head well. Tried a medium here and it fits snugly but not uncomfortable at all. I like this helmet a lot, although compared to high dollar helmets, don't expect this to blow anything out of the water. There is a pressure point on my forehead, but it is nothing to really worry about.
Good helmet over all, if you need an extra, I highly recommend for less than 100, you'd be hard pressed to beat it.

stripped screw on a new helmet?
Unfortunately I have not been able to test in on a bike- mine's been out of commission since I ordered it. I went to switch the visor to the other one that I ordered, and one of the screws holding the visor assembly in place fell to the ground. Paint looks great.

Sweet deal!!!
I just got this lid in Yellow for me and gray for the MRS. The fit is a bit tight for a medium, maybe it will crush in over time? Still not bad, I like a snug lid anyways. It looks MUCH better in person. The lid is very high quality, and alot quieter than my Brothers HJC I have been wearing (CL-14) I didn't like the little nose piece as it hit my snoz. It comes right out so no problems. It also has a little snap at the end of the strap so it won’t wack you down the road. The HJC you just had to tuck it. $159 would have been OK with me for this SNELL lid...But....I got it for $50!!!!! They shipped both helmets, to my door for FREEEEEE!!!!! In 2 DAYS!!! Think you can beat this deal? This site ROCKS!!!!

Very nice Helmet
This helmet is of GREAT quality. I have only ridden with this helmet a dozen or so times. The only problem I have with it is the cheeks of the helmet push up again my cheeks so I have to have my mouth slightly open to wear it comfortably (I obviously can buy smaller cheek pads, just haven’t gotten around to it). The wind noise is very minimal -- Until you turn your head. Lane merging on the highway, while checking my blind spot the helmet whistles very loudly. Going straight forward, very quiet. Also, if you want to wear a helmet mohawk, the ones with suction cups do not stick to the helmet very well. The finish is Matte -- not polished, hence, it doesn't stick as well as a polished helmet. Also, I recommend getting a second visor, the stock visor obviously has no sun protection, so it would probably be better with a tinted one. I went for Iridium Silver, which has a lot of tint and makes the helmet look really sharp.

KBC Tarmac delivers good bang-for-buck
I was lucky to find this helmet on very deep discount, so I bought it on impulse. I had owned a KBC Airborne helmet at the time, so I was familiar with KBC. What I liked about it was that it had a much smoother profile than my old lid, meaning less wind noise and buffeting. It's also quite light so it remains comfortable over many miles of riding. KBC always fit me well too, and that counts for a lot. Now the bad news: This is an entry-level helmet and it shows in the fit and finish. The shield doesn't quite sit right against the seal across the brow and air rushing through the gap causes a whistle. Also, this helmet has big open vents in the chin that move a LOT of air, but not much top venting to let it out. I'd say this is a good lid for beginners, the budget-conscious, or someone who wants a light, breezy helmet for warmer days in addition to their year-round gear.

It works great for this "Fair Weather Rider". There is a fair amount of air coming in under the chin bar, but, in August, I could use more. This helmet fits better than the Force RR, for some reason. Keep in mind that KBCs run a bit on the snug side. I'd try changing the cheek pads, but nobody carries replacements, that I know of.

Great Price, for a quality item
Love the graphics on it. When I first got the helmet it felt a little too snug, even though I measured it out accordingly to the chart. After wearing it for a day or two it formed and now it fits perfectly. The only thing I will complain about is the air flow could be a little bit better. One more opening on the top would not hurt. I highly recommend the item.

I got the Tarmac on clearance, so I saved about $100. The helmet is great in appearance. Fit is very tight, and I had ordered a size bigger than the chart suggested. You REALLY need to measure your head, and add 2 cm before comparing to the chart! Cheek pads are still too snug, but I hope they will break in soon. The helmet had 2 minor flaws: One of the eyebrow vents did not fit perfectly, resulting in a rub from the visor, and near the right eye the visor seal was not seated completely. Considering this is a 2005 helmet and I bought it on clearance, I don't have a problem with it. The helmet is quiet on the road, and has excellent visual range. The cost benefit was well worth it.

I bought this helmet mainly for longer rides on the freeway and winter use. I was also replacing a damaged helmet and couldn’t spend a lot of money. The Tarmac looks great and air flow through it is fine for me. I live in Texas and the temps down here during the summer can be brutal. I got it mainly because of the way it looked and reputation of KBC. The price was unbelievable for this helmet. I'm really happy with it.

Solid choice for anyone on a budget.
This helmet is great for the price. The overall fit is good however I feel that the cheek pads are a tight fit and around the front and mouth area. It’s not uncomfortable but it is noticeably snug. This helmet could have benefited from vents on the top of the helmet but a nice amount of air can still pass through it. If you're just getting started and are in need of a basic helmet for a good price then this is definitely a good choice.

Good helmet, lots of noise!
I purchased this helmet as a second helmet. When I got the helmet, it initially looked like a children helmet compared to my regular helmet. Both helmets are medium but this helmet has very little space in front of the face. The fit also looks tighter because there is a 2nd liner at the neck area which makes the hole look smaller. I live in Canada and there is just way too much airflow in this helmet. The whole bottom is open and also has two vents that you cannot close that let air in constantly. Also, the visor assembly constantly makes a whistling noise. If the visor didn't make so much noise and it didn't have an enormous amount of airflow, I would make this my regular helmet. For the price though, you can’t go wrong.

First of all, fast shipping (thanks Motorcycle Superstore!). Second, a good deal too good to pass on especially since it meets or exceeds SNELL/DOT. Third, the fit is perfect, I got a medium and read the instructions to make sure it is the right fit. Furthermore, the look of the helmet is what drew my attention to the helmet besides the price. I like the radiation symbol and it's more visible since I got the yellow/gunmetal paint scheme. To conclude, the air flow isn't too bad for the helmet at all.

Broken Quick release on Helmet
I bought this helmet about 1 month ago. Helmet fits fine and is comfortable; however the quick release for the visors on the one side broke and now whistles when I get above 40 mph. I think this is crazy that it could break within one month. I haven’t dropped it or put a scratch on it. It’s become a Real pain hopefully this is replaceable otherwise I’m out a helmet.

Helmet comes with a fairly decent bag, clear anti-fog shield, and a rubberized finish. I had read a bunch of reviews which seemed to say the helmet had an excellent fit and finish. It does prove to be very comfortable, but the finish wasn't as nice as I expected. There are some areas with cheap "cuts" in the application phase of the decals around the rear exhaust vents (i.e. the one you can see just under the radiation symbol in the picture...mine shows a bit of white background still). There is also an issue with the top vent cover. My helmet has never been dropped, thrown, etc, but the glue that holds down the metal V on the top of the helmet has started to separate from the helmet itself. Wasn't sure if motorcycle super store would allow a return considering I had used the helmet already, so I’ve just left it, but I’ve only had the helmet for a month or two. The other issue is that the helmet is fairly noisy. What I’ve discovered though isn't that this helmet is overly noisy compared to other helmets, just that my previous helmet (the bell zypher) was incredibly quiet. This helmet will develop a whistle above 35-40 mph, and you can hear a buffet (probably separation turbulence) at the corners of the visors with the visor down, going more than 50 mph.

This is my second KBC helmet. The Tarmac Radiation is a great value! Size was spot on. The flat finish looks good and is very durable. The cagers will really notice the yellow graphics for safety. The small breath guard on the chin bar is a little close to the nose, but not bad. Helmet is a little quieter than average, probably because there are few vents. That's ok with me as a lot of helmet vents don't work anyway. Overall, I give it a B.

Fantastic helmet for the cost!
I picked up this helmet on closeout, 50 bucks! Fit wise it feels like a 500+ dollar Aria lid. My only grip with the helmet is the whistle and wind noise, there's a ton! But some ear plugs fixes that easily. For having only chin vents and 2 exhaust ports the helmet breaths very well. I was riding today in 90+ degree heat and didnt feel over heated. Twenty dollars for a tinted shield is well worth it. Great helmet!

Great helmet at a fabulous price
I had been interested in this helmet since last year and now when I came to buy it, it was on closeout. What could be better? The helmet is a great fit. I actually tried on a modular KBC helmet to test the sizing and it was the same as the full face Tarmac helmet. The ventilation is more than what you need. I actually ride with the front vent only half open because the air seems to flow into your eyes and dries them out. I have not had an occasion other than when stopped for long periods where the helmet felt hot. Amazing helmet.

Great helmet for the price
I chose the Tarmac Radiation Helmet because of the price and the style. I found that it fits great, has good airflow, but lacks some of the features of other helmets. It does come with a nice bag, but no extra tinted visor like some other brands. The fit and finish are good, though the visor ratchet feels a little weak. I would definitely recommend it. But order some earplugs, it is a bit noisy.

Can't beat the price
Purchased this helmet for someone else. Feels comfortable and is not overly heavy. I have not ridden with this helmet on so can't comment on noise or anything like that. The finish is good, the fit seems on. Ordered a large and he usually takes a large so it was a good fit....if anything slightly smaller than some other large sizes, but not enough to make you change size. The nose guard is close to your face, but you can bend it out. Overall, I can say that for $49 you just couldn't go wrong.

Too much air flow, but still a good deal for the money
I really like the look and feel of the helmet, but the wind just comes right up from underneath and blows in my eyes alot. It also tends to fog up more than others I've had. That being said, when you only drop $50 on a helmet you can't expect perfection. I do feel it was a very good value, but don't think this is going to match an HJC.

Even with shipping and duties to Canada this helmet was significantly cheaper than getting one locally, especially one with a Snell rating.
It fit quite well out of the box, if a little snug, but seems to have packed out a bit in the tight spots since then.
This helmet only has venting in the chin piece, and just a piece of metal where the top vents would normally be, but even on hot days in traffic I can't say the helmet seems to get particularly hot. The rubberized texture is quite nice, and the visor seems to work fairly well, though not as smooth to operate as higher end models.
My only real complaint is that at higher speeds there is an annoying whistle that I think is caused by the visor. The whistle comes and goes depending on my head angle, so I imagine different bike setups would produce different results.
Overall I am very happy with my purchase.

Surprisingly Awesome
I didn't expect much from a cheap KBC intro line helmet. This helmet rocks, though. It fits perfectly for people with neutral to oval shaped heads (like me). It also looks pretty cool. The only gripes I would have is the paint chips off eventually (as I already have few scuffs) and also there is little to no airflow (but that reduces noise).

The other reviews were pretty much dead on when I checked them over on this site. I got this helmet as a backup/passenger helmet and for the price I couldn’t pass it up. The design is awesome and the comfort is great too. Shipping was fast and the sizing chart worked great, too. Overall id say this is a good passenger helmet or a cruise around the town kind of helmet, but if you are someone who goes pretty fast on highways and does fast pulls here and there or go to the track, I’ll be the first to tell you that this helmet probably isn’t for you due to the wind factor. I’ve pretty much designated this helmet as my cruise around town helmet and my passenger helmet, and sticking with my Icon helmet for when I do highway rides.
I figure id give everyone a complete overview of this helmet for people of all riding styles for the most part so you have something to go by. And for the price I figured the least I can do is spend a few minutes and give an in-depth review for the folks at the superstore.

Amazing Helmet
This helmet is absolutely amazing. It fits like a glove (if you go off the manufacturers sizing chart), has great airflow, visibility is superb, and just plain looks great! The only thing is the paint job doesn't seem to be the most durable. There is a spot on the top where the paint came off either before shipping (and I didn't see it when examining) or when a friend set it down on the concrete. Either way, it's not noticeable (unless you're looking for it). This is a great helmet for the price and I plan on buying another KBC in the near future.

I've had expensive helmets and this one is not bad. Airflow is pretty decent. The helmet fits nice but the pad in the front that is against the forehead is not that good. After wearing for 2 hours my forehead was quite numb. But for short runs and the price you can't beat it. Peripheral vision is good and is pretty quiet.

Bought this helmet for 50 dollars, it is pretty good even when compared to my shoei rf100 which was far more expensive. There are some problems such as the gasket coming unglued near the visor tab, or the chin strap retainer being not as good, but for 50 dollars you get an otherwise perfectly adequate helmet.

I bought this helmet because I was on a limited budget and it was an excellent choice. It doesn't have tons of features but that is also why it wasn't too expensive. I ride a 120 miles a day to and from work. If you are looking for a basic helmet to use you can't go wrong.

Great helmet!
I really like this helmet.
The graphics are applied flawlessly and the looks are great (I have actually received lots of compliments on it). The air flow is not the best but at least for me it is OK. The shield is supposed to be fog free but it did fog once when I wore the helmet with the vents closed and the motorcycle was not moving.
The fit is perfect and true to its size. It doesn't feel heavy at all. Not too noisy so that's a plus.
Overall this is a great helmet, and being Snell approved at $50 what else can one ask for? I highly recommend it to everyone else.

Great Helmet for the Price!
At a $50 price tag who could complain?!? It’s lightweight fits well and gets great ventilation. The only drawback is that it is pretty noisy at freeway speeds. I bought it for hot Houston days and to have a second helmet. I have been wearing it more than my Scorpion EXO-700 as of late cause of the better air flow.

Overall, very pleased with my purchase. The one bummer is that there is a tiny gap between visor and chin which lets in some excess and unnecessary airflow.
Also to note: there are skulls on the forehead of helmet (which originally I did not see...but it's still cool)

Best Helmet I could find
This helmet fits me perfectly. I had a shark evoline I spent $350 on and it was little loose ( I just really liked it). I figured I should try to get something that would fit better and be snell since my shark isn't. I got a medium like I did in the shark and this one was tighter in all the places the shark wasn't. The chart said my head was a small but I went a size up because I have a round head. For $50 you can't beat it and I got the black and gray, it looks great. Also they said it would be at my house in 3 days and it came in 2. Plus there was a nice note inside that said if it didn’t fit I could return it within 60 days. Other sites have a no return policy on close out items. The airflow could be better but for $50 bucks I am willing to give up some comfort for safety.

Awsome Helmet
This is the best helmet for the price. Its DOT and Snell approved. Before I bought this I check out all the reviews on the bike and there were only positive things about this helm. Very comfy and the air flow is good but could of been just a little better but it doesn't fog up. I recommend this helmet to everyone who rides it also looks really sharp.

Sizing Isn't Correct
I have a huge, round, pumpkin head. This helmet is narrow and oval shaped. I'm 24" around my head at the widest part, around my temples. This helmet's opening is 23" for an X-Large and 34" around the temples. My girlfriend who is 5'2" with her tiny head, barely fits into this helmet. So if you have a narrow head, you should be fine, but I'd go 1 or maybe even 2 sizes larger. If you have a square or roundish head, look elsewhere. If I hadn't had a girlfriend with a tiny head, I would have had to return this.

Tarmac Radiation Helmut
Fit is great. I traditionally don't buy anything but a black helmet, but kids and old people thinks it looks good. I feel like the first large bug hits it and it's no longer new so why bother. The windshield is down and a still get a few particles inside the helmet. But for the price it's a great helmet and I would buy another KBC.

I bought this helmet at the reduced price because I liked the graphics. After wearing it several times I have made it my 'long ride' helmet. The fit is snug, the air flow is great, and the noise suppression is good. Overall, a good helmet at a good price.

Excellent Helmet
My only complaint is that it is a tight fit. I had an XL helmet that moved around too much, so I ordered a large this time around. Maybe I'm just one of those in between sizes. Other than that, it's perfect. Doesn't fog. Limited noise. And the pricing was great! I would definitely order again, just a size bigger.

Too much air flow
Nice helmet for the price. Fits a little snug, and probably a better fit for more round headed people. Helmet lets too much air flow through the visor area. Dries out your eyes really bad and some dust particles will get in your eyes.

Great Value
The helmet has a great secure fit and awesome design. Great upgrade from my old Nolan helmet. I replaced the standard face shield with a mirror tint and even though it seems to fit properly I still feel too much air flow coming through. Although I love the ole'Cobra Commander chrome face look of my new helmet. Considering the price and efficiency from the Motorcycle Superstore, I'm very satisfied!

Bought this helmet as a spoof for the security gate guards at work. After a few rides I think that it's alot of helmet for the money, sized true, decent quality, visor is slightly distorted at the very edges, and needed a good airing out to get rid of the plastic smell. Breath deflector seems to work pretty well. A good dose of radiation for the exposure!

KBC Tarmac Helmet
For $70 it's a good deal. I bought the radiation styled helmet. Its plastic rubberized shell is rather nice and the graphics are cool. Venting is ok. Interior pads are thin on the skull especially the rear crown of the skull where it feels very hard and gives me a headache after a while. As far as comfort is concerned you get what you pay for. I use it as a back-up helmet. Might make an ok starter helmet if you also wear a fabric skull cap of some kind.

Great Helmet at a great price
This is a great helmet, the air flow is good and keeps the visor nice and clear all the time. The fit was perfect, I have 21.5" cranium and Medium was spot on for me. The only complaints I have is that the paint (or whatever it is) chips easy. I have one small spot on the back where I bumped it lightly on a door and the paint chipped a little. Other than that, I love it.

Fit is true to size. Has this whistling sound when you accelerate from a stop which kinda sounds like a police siren. sketchy at first can scare the crap outta you. Shield does seem to fog up even though it says anti fog. Overall great deal

Pretty good helmet on a budget.
I got in a wreck a few months ago, and my KBC VR2 saved my life. Without going out to be fitted for a different brand, I decided to go with KBC because I knew it would fit just right, and I could order off the internet at a discount. The Tarmac Radiation does not disappoint. For 69, I knew it wasn't going to be as good as my vr2. Some of the features are not as good including the way the snap for the strap is situated, the lining configuration, lack of chin liner (popped that out of my vr2 for this one). It is also not quite as quiet as the vr2. I was able to use my shields from the vr2 due to same latching mechanism, which was a benefit. It is a bit warmer it seems than the vr2, and that might be from lack of top vents. Looks are killer though. The graphics and finish are top notch for a helmet in this price range.

Great Price for a Great Helmet
I recently bought this helmet to upgrade from a HJC Helmet I had bought 2 years ago. I live in Seattle and one of the most common conditions here is about 40 degrees and rain. That is an instantaneous combination for fogging up your helmet. After nearly killing myself in my HJC one winter day, I decided that I had to find a better Helmet. I am not rich by any stretch, so an affordable helmet with great qualities was what I was in the market for. I like the design on the helmet and it’s what caught my eye first. After reading a bunch of review (on other sites as well) I decided that I would give it a shot. I cannot tell you how happy I am that I did. I accidentally got a size larger than I thought I needed (my HJC was a M and according to the size chart for KBC, I would wear a medium as well but I got a Large). I am glad I did because there is no way a medium would have fit me. A large is perfect. It’s much quieter than the HJC, fits nicer and is warmer but gets great air. I rode this morning at 36 degree and not once did it fog up. I am SO glad I got this helmet. I recommend it to anyone who needs an affordable helmet that doesn’t fog and fits well. There are only two negatives I found. #1) Order a size bigger than you think you need and #2) I cannot wear my prescription glasses in it.
Otherwise... 5 out of 5. Great Buy.
