Shoei RF 1000 Voyager
In comparison to the HJC CL15 I started with, the Shoei is lighter, fits better, and has a superior shield.

I feel very comfortable and safe in this helmet. The design and the finish look great as well. The fit is a little tight, but that is what leads to the secure feeling. Plus I know helmets are supposed to fit like that. I got what I expected from Shoei.

Best helmet
This helmet rocks! I've had it for about 4 mos. now and it is fits like a glove, very comfortable. It broke in pretty fast to and has molded nicely to my semi-long, oval sized dome. The Voyager is a pretty sick color design as well because on the white paint there are tribal type designs that really stand out in the sun (the pictures do not do this justice). Stability is second only to the X-Eleven in my opinion and summer is almost upon us so I'll get to see how well it vents. All in all this helmet is proly one of the best you'll ever find - HIGHLY recommend.

Great helmet and I love the graphics in black. Cheaper options available but I believe this helmet is worth every penny.

About what I expected
This is just a nicer looking RF1000, so if money is an object, go with a plain color. Also, you can't tell from the photos here but there is a faint sort of "tribal" pattern in the white spaces in a ghostly rainbow sort of color, very faint, but visible in bright light. Again, it doesn't show up here, but it's on the helmet. I liked the toned-down, subtle/tasteful hounds tooth look of this helmet, and I'm not crazy about the stuff I couldn’t see in the photos, so beware. As for the functional stuff: the top and rear vents work very, very well. I've never had functional ventilation... it’s wonderful. But the chin vent does nothing for me, absolutely nothing. Thus, the helmet is MUCH more prone to fogging than my last, so a word of advice: Buy the nose guard and NOT the chin guard. The nose guard took care of 98% of the fogging, but installing the chin guard brought it right back... so I don't recommend getting one. I saw a catalog in a store that listed them separately and together (Nose, Chin, BOTH - 3 SKU's in all) so it should be possible. The fit and finish are normal Shoei (very very nice). This is lighter than my last helmet (KBC TK-8), the interior feel is much nicer, and the visor is optically perfect (the KBC visors all had a wide spot running vertically in the center, I went through 3 visors and they all had it), **BUT this Shoei is a little bit shorter on the sides by my neck, so my neck gets more wind and is thus colder. It's probably great in hotter weather. Other things I noticed: it's much smoother at speed, no matter which way my head is facing. In other words, there's less buffeting in the wind, so my neck doesn't work as hard to steady my noggin. And as others have said, the interior lining does stick to Velcro, which sucks when you put gloves in there, but it's not a deal-breaker. It's nice to be able to wash the chin strap liner too. And finally, the padding, I wear glasses, and they do fit, but sometimes the pads push them up. This will fade with use; I am sure, as the pads get broken in. What would NOT have faded, and what I couldn't take for more than 20 minutes, was the pressure on the center of my ears. The cheek pads just go about half an inch too far back, and were pressing on the ha4rd cartilage at the center of my ears. Maybe it's my ears. Either way, I was getting a splitting pain after 20 minutes, so I took the pads out, wrapped sewing thread around the offending parts, cinched it down, and tied it off. Perfect fit now,
If I had it to do all over again, I'd probably save the hundred bucks or whatever and go with a solid color. But I would buy this model again.

It's worth it
When I first got the helmet the cheek pads were snug. Brake-in took about a week. (I ride 5-6 days a week) Now the helmet fits great! I had a HJC AC-11 and was skeptical if a $430 helmet would be any better than my $220 HJC...It is! Vents way better, it's lighter, and is a lot quieter at speed. In a few years my wallet might let me find out if a $650+ helmet is better than my $430 helmet... but until then, I love my RF-1000! Pictures do not due the color changing paint justice on the voyager white/black looks great in the sun. Bottom line, you won't regret this buy.

Best for my Noggin
The best fitting and lightest helmet that I tried. Owned an Arai Quantum 2 before but the Shoei fits me better and is lighter. "Back in the day" helmets didn't have wings and scoops- they probably help with ventilation but also seem to add wind noise. Like the black & white faux carbon graphic on mine.

I like it alot
Helmet looks great, quality work. It is quieter than HJC I had before. I can hear my engine now, and surrounding traffic. Still need earplugs, but is an improvement. Delivery performance by MC Superstore was great.

Great helmet! I did a lot of research and talked to a lot of knowledgeable riders before I decided on this helmet and I'm glade that I did. It is incredibly comfortable and stylish. The venting is good and does a great job keeping the helmet cool. I find that the screen fogs during colder weather when cruising at lower speeds but simply popping the visor a bit solves the problem. I would recommend this helmet anyone!! Awesome piece of gear.
