Great helmet
I’m not basing this review comparing it to a top of the line helmet. It is a GREAT helmet for the money, if you are thinking about getting this one it is a great choice. It is comfortable, has decent airflow, isn't huge on your head, and has a locking visor. The only thing I could think of to make this helmet better straight from the manufacturer is a chin strap clip. Other than that its awesome. Plus, its only $75!!

HJC - CS-R1 Solid Helmet Review
The helmet doesn't come with a nice decal or design as most helmets on the market but for an affordable sturdy fit and easy to use helmet this is a good choice. Negative: only offers two sets of vents and no decals. Positive: comfortable fit and very affordable.

Great helmet

Great quality and price
HJC's budget priced helmets always surprise me with their level of quality considering their small price. Compared to much more expensive models the CS-R1 is very well put together. I received my new solid silver CS-R1 3 weeks ago and my only regret is the sizing. My large head seems to need an XXL size. My previous helmet, an HJC CL-14 was an XL and seemed a little large for me. The CS-R1 I ordered also in XL thinking it would be the same but it was actually a tighter fit. The chin area seems much closer to your face then the 14 but over all I'm very pleased with the CS-R1. I recommend it for anyone looking to get a cheap helmet.

Great Helmet for Beginners
This was my first helmet, and it's really a great buy for that purpose. There's no use in purchasing a more expensive helmet at first, because a DOT helmet is a DOT helmet. That said, this helmet lacks a few things that would make it great: the face shield is incredibly flimsy, and fogs up very easily. Also, there are only three positions: completely closed, completely open, and halfway open. The problem with halfway open is that the bottom of the shield falls directly where your eyes look. So it's not really usable. Aside from that, the helmet looks great, feels great, and I love the chinstrap.

I bought 2 other helmets, returned them (different vendor) before trying this one. It fits great, is MUCH quieter on my bike, better padding, better in every way, and is not expensive. The research I did indicates that DOT rating is DOT rating, and I do not buy into the idea that you have to have a $600 helmet to have a good helmet. I am very pleased with this one, and have just ordered a 2nd one for my wife, to match mine. They come ready for intercom installs, which we will do next. It also looks good with the color scheme of my DL650 (Black).

good helmet
The helmet fits well and seems durable, I like the chin strap. The only problem I have had is the face shield will fog up easily; I have to pop it open a little. The price is right and I’m satisfied.

This is a great helmet, the fit is good, and I love the locking feature on the faceshield. As a sportbike rider this feature helps me feel safe when I have to turn my head while on the interstate, if you know what I mean.

Budget protection
For the amount of money invested, this is a great helmet. The vents are easy to use and actually work. The liner is comfortable and you can pull it out to wash it too. The face shield seems pretty durable but once in a while it slips out of the side sockets as I open and shut it. I wish a tinted face shield were available but it is not.
