S-MX 5 boots
Fit true to size compared to other riding boots I have. After one season, just starting to break in. I will take stiffness as protection vs. flimsy boot that fits like a sneaker. Quite warm for an unlined boot. I would recommend a vented boot for the height of the summer season.

Wow! they are really comfortable, I had to buy a size smaller (i am 9 bought an 8), they fit excellent, thanks to the reviews left by another customers.

Boot Fit & Finish
I purchased Sidi Vertigo Air Boots a little over 2 1/2yrs ago. They were too tight on my feet so I pulled the bottom in-soles out and resorted to wearing thin dress socks just to get my feet in them. Problem is that I have a wide foot (13EE). I got the biggest size that they offered, thinking that they would stretch just a little. No dice! So, this year I bought these Alpinestars. Sidi only went to size 48 (which is USA 13). Alpinestars went to 49. I only needed a little more room so I got size 48.5 What a difference! I can actually walk in them too! Turns out, Italian cuts are inherently less narrow! Look, if you just tool around the street and are not really aggressive then these boots are the way to go. Good fit & finish and protection. But, there is a reason why I never put the Sidi's on E-Bay. If you wander on the track every now and then AND head north of 100mph, do yourself & your feet a favor, get the boots that the pro's use too. In this case that old adage holds true; "You get what you pay for!" Sidi fit and finish AND protection is far superior! Just wish those Italian's had a "Wider" selection!

A-stars S-MX 5
Been using these boots for 1 month for commuting. Easy to slip on and off relatively quickly. Boots feel strong and durable; I have more confidence with them on. They have not been hot, but weather has not been over 85F. Quality appears quite good. Boots are stiff but seem to be loosening up. Out of the box I could feel the brake and shifter easily. I compared these to the S-MX Plus boot; I liked the Plus better (more features, better fit) but they were far too stiff and too difficult to put on for daily use. The S-MX5 is very comfortable, easy to get a good fit, and has nice features such as the zipper velcro tab and removable toe guard. A good boot for regular street use if you want solid protection.

It's worth It
As soon as I put these on I swear I just put on a pair of very high sneakers. I could walk all day in these. The only break I had to do on these was just the shifting motion. Feel for the pedal took a bit to get used to and foot placement once my feet were on the ground (I kept hooking the top of the boot to the bike). First day I scrape the slider and loved the feel of it no damage to the boot itself. Now, unless you plan on wearing pants tucked in the boots then you will be disappointed, there’s too much space for the calf, on the other hand if you tuck in your pants then it fits nice and snug. I'm a 9.5 US and these boots fit like my casual shoes roomy. I wished I could have tried one size smaller to see if it would give me he fit I was looking for. If I wasn't such a hard grader I would have given these boots all 5's. I love them, I was squeamish about the price but after wearing them for a month they are worth every penny.

First pair of boot
Took me 2 days to break them in. I wear a 9 and a half sneaker but had to buy an 8 in these boots so the sizing is different. Great protection and for the price they are a good looking pair of boots.

Great Feel For Riding
The Alpinestars S-MX 5 boot is very comfortable and has a great feel for riding. They provide great feedback and an excellent feeling of confidence and safety. I will never ride in tennis shoes or hiking boots again.
On the down side I wish they had better ankle guards and the toe sliders are not 100% flush with the toe of the boot but they are a lot more comfortable than the Sidi at the same price point. I would strongly recommend these boots.

New Boots
I am just amazed with these boots. I can honestly say that of all the gear I have these are hands down the most cost effective. I ride a ZRX1100 and we sport ride a lot but I also ride my bike daily. In the last month and a half I have put over 2000 kms on my bike (real close to 3000). These boots fit very well, about a half size big, I am a big guy, 6'4 280lbs and was worried about them fitting my calf/leg. No worries at all. Soooooo comfortable to ride and walk in. I could rave all day about these. If and when I need another pair I already know what I'm buying.

Alpinestars-S-MX 5 Boot
Though relatively expensive, these boots are well worth the money because they are, by far, the BEST thing I have ever had on my feet. The comfort level is akin to having gloves on my feet! The Velcro fasts and side zipper are great assets. There is plenty of room to hold the pants or suit legs inside; or you can wear them over the boot. Either option offers a great fit.
I ride a Honda CB900F (Honda 919) and these boots fit comfortably on the foot pegs and let me shift with ease.
Keeping them clean is not a problem; just a light wipe with a soapy cloth keeps these dogs clean. There has been a little wear on the toes because of scratching due to shifting, etc.; but a little dab of black shoe polish returns them to normal.
I normally wear a 10.5 (45 European) but ordered the size 46 European instead and was not let down. They fit just fine. I wear them at work (I'm a teacher and I spend most of my day walking around)and the comfort level is better than the shoes I would normally wear.
I highly recommend these boots to anyone and everyone.

Nice boots but returned due to construction defect.
I liked the boots but I had to return them because of a build defect. There was a slight ramp up in the footbed at the front outside edge of the left boot. It put just enough pressure under the outside edge of my foot to make things get uncomfortable after about 30 minutes of wearing them. The right boot, however, felt absolutely great. Motorcycle Superstore was wonderful in dealing with the return. If the left boot didn't have this issue, I would have been perfectly happy as this really is a very nice boot.

Great boot
Good fit. Didn't take very long to break in, almost immediately. Very comfortable. Great boot for the price. I test fitted some boots before I purchased them. I wear a 12 in sneakers, but a 12/47 in the boots was too big. Had to drop down two sizes to a 45.

Gotta say, I was VERY happy the minute I tried them on. Comfortable and easy to fit. They are breaking in nicely. Leather is very supple. Plenty of protection. Way glad I bought these-never had a set of "road racing boots" before-these will probably outlast me! Fully adjustable heavy duty Velcro flaps and side zipper as well. Conditioned them a couple of times with Propert's leather conditioner- NICE. Thanks to Superstore-their customer service just rocks, as well as their shipping times-always on time OR early!!! Well-I REALLY think these boots are Excellent!Great fit out of the box-even better as time has gone by. VERY comfy. No tight or hot spots. Best boots I've owned. Can wear with zipper up or down.Velcro is heavy duty. Tips are just right for getting my toes under the shifter. Heels hook nicely on my pegs. Not stiff at all. Great buy
I bought these boots and right away I could feel the difference in foot placement. Shifting is so much easier too! Although they can get hot when sitting at a stoplight in hot weather, but I'd rather have sweat than road rash. The protection looks like it would be great if a fall were to happen, but let’s hope it never does!

Day 3 riding with the 5's & I am very happy, comfortable, & warm. Easy to get in & out of, very adjustable, & they feel great! I don't want to take them off. Temp. today in the 30's but no problem. Walked around old town & did some Christmas shopping & they were as comfy walking as they are to ride with. They look awesome too! Great job Alpinestars!
