I bought this to supplement/replace the back armor in my jacket. That part is fine, if not a bit shorter than I had expected. The Capt. American chest armor I could have done without. It seems to make the vest ride up in the front if you lean forward at all. I would go one size up from this if I were to buy it again.

I wondered if this thing would be worth the money and I took a chance on it and I have to say that I'm happy. I'm a bigger guy, 5 foot 9, 225 pounds, bench press 365 pounds and with a close to 60 inch chest. I have a hard time finding anything that fits and this item does. It's very adjustable. The back protector in my Joe Rocket jacket isn't much better than the top of a foam cooler and I wear this vest under my jacket with no issues. Honestly it feels great. I can't imagine not wearing it while riding now. I feel much more protected with it on than without. The chest plate is fairly small but the spine cover is very nice. I'm not some hooligan rider looking to be 'cool' with a t-shirt and this vest on over it. I'm 37 years old and more safety aware and for me this thing fits the bill. I'm happy with it.

Great Buy
While I’m not the most experienced rider (only ridding for months), falls happen and when they do it hurts. So when I saw this on sale I just had to have it. When I got it I tried it right away. All I had to say was wow. It fits well on even someone of my size 5'6" 135lbs. It only got better. During The Delmarva Bike that happens yearly here I had many many compliments about the look and the safety of this product. I feel very safe with this vest on. And it’s even small enough to fit under my jacket or in my bookbag when I’m walking around.

At first, I thought it would not fit right but with the adjustable bands I was surprised that it fits well. It is form fitting and fits right under my jacket. It can also just be worn on the outside and it has reflectors on the spine plate. Great protection for the price. Must have!

Good for the cheap price. However, I rated durability low because the sections on the back of the vest seem to slip over each other and I don't think this would prevent hyperextension. Fit is ok. Would like it to come a little farther down the spine though.

Best Rider's Choice
Probably one the the best choices when it comes to armor vests. The overall design of the vest provides the rider with a good feeling of comfort and safety. The velcro flaps make it easy to adjust the vest to ones body. It's a vest made out of sturdy materials which do no feel heavy and do not put a load on your body. The arm openings are well design an give the rider the ability to freely move his arms. Even though I like this vest, I consider it's a little expensive compared to other but well worthy.

The added protection at a very affordable cost makes this vest an easy purchase. Having worn it even when it was very hot outside, the vest gave me the protection I wanted without increasing my body temp. It doesn't encumber my movements and gives me a good feeling I will have some added protection should the worse happen.

Could be better
I only wear the vest on warmer days over my tee. I do like the added safety and it keeps my shirt from beating against my chest. It looks cool and has good quality craftsmanship.

Field Armor
This is one of the best armors out there. I live in a very hot and humid State in the summer and this is perfect for those hot days. It is very comfortable and has great Velcro adjustments on the shoulders and waist. The only thing I wish it had is shoulder protection to go with it. Otherwise, this is the best investment you want to get. I use elbow and knee guards along with this armor from the dirt bike armor on both my Kawasaki KLR650 Enduro and my Yamaha R1 supersport. Be sure to get the ones that will not scratch the sportbike.

great protection for summer
This vest offers protection, and looks great when you are wearing nothing but a T-shirt. The only problem is it comes in L and EX-L only. I am a small man so it kinda loose for me. But overall I love it!!

Solid protection
I like this fore/aft device under a riding jacket or more casual shirt. Do not go for the standard size unless you are small. I am 6'2' 220 and needed the larger size. Smaller is fine for women's sizing. Reasonably comfortable, not like the weight of a second chance vest.

This is a great alternative to wearing a jacket. I have a Joe Rocket 5.0 and hate wearing it do to all the padding. But this helps when you’re riding. You don’t even know it’s on. The only con is you look like a turtle.

Great Vest, pretty common
Great vest. It fits great, very snug. Great added protection. I wear it under my mesh or textile jackets when I get on the highway. I also just wear it over a Tshirt sometimes when I’m just riding around town on warm day.

Use with jacket

I am 5'11" about 200lbs and bought the XL. I think the L would have worked better. The XL is just a little too big. It fit perfect under my riding jacket even with the thermal liner in.

These boots fit just fine but they are hard to get on. Kind of a pain in the butt actually. They aren't very comfortable at all. For those of your that have ever snow skied, they're like walking around in a pair of ski boots. As for riding, I had to use the side edge of the sole to shift because these things are so big and thick. I gave them a 5 for durability because they'll definitely last and they'll definitely protect your feet. The rest of you might not survive the accident but your feet will!

Best product for the money period! Fits great on me at 5'6" 130lbs and even fit my dad at 5'8" 230lbs. feels good, with almost no getting used to. Very low profile and fits great even under snug fitting jackets. Looks awesome when worn by itself or over a sweatshirt. Only down side is that the white painted on the armor on the back scratches a little easier than I would have liked, but all in all great buy great fit! Protect yourself period!!! Icon does not and will not ever make junk, so if you don't have one get one!

great piece of mind
From the moment you put this armor on along with your other riding gear you feel more confident that if something goes wrong you have extra protection. The vest fits tight enabling you to wear your armor jacket over it, or on hot days wearing a long sleeve shirt with the armor. All in all I won’t ride without this armor on. Great buy!
I got mine a couple of weeks ago, it fits great under my jacket as well as over a nice thick hoody, or even over a regular T-shirt. It looks great and offers great protection, flexibility, and adjustability. Your back is important, you only have one and protecting it is vital, Icon does not make junk and this piece of equipment is a must have. Don't be fooled by cheaper versions that attach with a kidney belt and flimsy shoulder straps, this item makes you feel like you’re going to be protected the second it on, and without limiting you range of movement, and for a hundred bucks you couldn't ask for more. The sizing was kind of confusing though, the large fits a small to large or extra large person, and being under 150lbs, it still can be adjusted to fit me snug without effort. I would defiantly buy this again, and plan on getting one for my wife and father.

kinda get what you pay for
This is a vest is can only really be used in addition to a jacket. the only real protection on your chest is about a four by four inch piece of rubber, and I feel the back could also be a little stronger. Basically I feel this vest wouldn't do much to protect you in a crash. if you can save a few more dollars and buy something else then do it.

I purchased this as a new rider, with the notion that I would just stop using it once I "got good at riding". A couple of months later, I'm much more comfortable on my bike, and I'm still wearing the vest. It is easy to put on under clothing, fits great, and it doesn't chafe when worn on bare skin. It doesn't have the most protection on the market, but it is better than nothing, and it's priced right. There is no better value right now.

Feel Safe
I ride a Harley Davidson, but I admire the sport bike scene and its advances in riding armor. This product is a great example of those advances. I wear this vest under my jacket & I feel much safer than I did before. The sizes did throw me off a bit. I'm 6 feet tall, 195 lbs., with a 44 inch chest and a 34 inch waist, and I take the XL. (I was just a tad too big for the Large). Use that comparison as best you can for your purchase. I'd recommend this piece of equipment for anyone who wants to ride safe!

Worth the price. From a fit stand point this is the best helmet I have tried. The small plastic snap on the chin strap is the only thing I would change as it looks a bit cheap and easy to break.

Great buy
This is one of the best buys I've made. The vest is extremely customizable to your size: everything is velcro, so you can pull it apart and resize it to fit your body completely. The spine protector is plated to follow your back comfortably when you bend. My two complaints are: I wish the chest protector was a hard plastic or a harder rubber, and I wish there was shoulder protection. Other than that, this is a great substitute for the full jacket on 100-degree days and short rides.

Durability Questionabale
After wearing, I noticed a tag that came with it. It implied that the vest will not protect you. I have since researched other MC armor and find that they are certified but not the ICON version. It may be better than nothing.

Great substitute for a jacket in heavy heat.
This item provides excellent protection to the torso and the back area. The spine of this unit seems extremely durable and I am really confident of it being able to save me. I use the item to substitute my jacket when it gets really hot. Although I tend to still get sweaty where the armor is the tightest (feels exactly like wearing a bullet proof vest for anybody who has ever worn one) it is much better then a jacket. I use this with Icon's elbow and arm armor to protect me. I would recommend more shoulder protection if I had to make any complaint.

This provides a great fit for me at 190 lbs, 5-11 with the straps being adjusted almost as tight as they go. I feel confident with the back protector but as far as shoulder or chest, I don’t think it would do much, but the back protection seems great.

Armor, or novelty item?
This back protector only comes in one size, so if you're tall it won't cover any of your lower back. And even if you're short, it won't protect your pelvis at all. The armor is sketchy, and not CE-approved, unlike virtually all other worn-on-the-body back protectors. The vest feels to be cheaply made, and affords little protection. In the chest, it's just a weak foam and lots of nylon, probably affording very little protection. If you normally ride in a t-shirt, this would be an improvement, but this back protector has got nothing on any other worn-on-the-body back protectors.

My Vest
Although I have not had to test out the durability of the vest (hopefully I never will need to)it has a comfortable fit and looks pretty cool too. I did purchase one that was a little too big for me but with wearing the right clothing it fits just fine. It would have been cool to add a pocket for identification if an accident was to take place, and some extra velcro for a better fasten.

Feel like a Super Hero or a Gladiator
I got the large, mainly because it only came in a Small or Large. I have a pretty decent upper body and thought the large would be a better fit. I guess being 5'8” and 165lbs, and slightly muscular, means you should get the small. The vest adjusts up, like L to XL. I wish I would have known that, I would have got the S and adjusted up to M. I hope I can ship it back for the S. But getting the S hurts my ego...I guess I settle for Mini Super Hero, Mini Gladiator.

Was it worth the price?
Yes! Most definitely. I wear my vest no matter what the weather or temperature. It does get a wee bit hot during the summer but I find that in the early Spring and into the Fall, it acts as an insulator against cold weather.
My only concern is that the elastic strap on the right side waist is showing wear from undoing it. Perhaps a nylon adjustable web strap might add to the long term use. As well, wonder if a clear plastic pouch moulded into the front plate could be considered. In that "name tag" pouch I would insert a card with my name address and next of kin. When the para-medics open up my coat they'd find useful info that they would need. I'd tell them my self but I might not be able to.
I have never yet, to this point, had to try the vest out in a slide. If I do, I hope I can get onto my back and let the spine guard do its job.
This is one piece of equipment I have never had second thoughts about buying.

Every time I put the Field Armor Vest on my wife quotes the famous line from Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. Although I doubt that the vest would prevent a mortal wound in a post-apocalyptic steel-cage battle to the death, I do think that this vest would provide good protection, particularly of the spine, in the event of a crash. I have found the vest to be generally comfortable, but a bit stultifying on hot days. A little more venting, particularly on the spine protector, would be welcome. The o

Summer Riding
I mainly use the vest for casual riding on hot summer days. Great alternative to my riding jacket. You have to balance comfort and protect. If you’re too hot your going to get fatigue. If you get fatigued your chances of getting in an accident increase.

Great fit, comfortable and fits nicely with jacket on. 2 things though it needs shoulder protection and the front part of the vest could have been a little larger. Mainly though it needs shoulder pads. Combined with the rest of the Icon armour it looks great, you just need a cape and a side kick.

I have absolutely zero complaints about the vest, I would prefer some sort of plastic protection on top of the shoulders, but I really didn't buy it for that. It fits great, protects the spine in a big way, and provides some great skid protection all around.

vest is cool
This is the best option if you don’t care to wear leather in the summer. Add the elbow armor and your ready to go. Fits nice and does not get in the way for a nice lean over on the tank for high speeds. It looks mean too. I get many questions and positive comments about the way it looks. I added some reflective tape to the spine pattern on the back and it looks killer at night. I recommend this to all.

Right on the money!
I own the complete Field Armor set (minus the shorts), and I have one hang up with the knee- and elbow- armor, which has to do with sizes. Not so with the vest. Of course, the vest is offered in a Regular AND a larger size, so there you have it - one size does not fit all. At any rate, the Field Armor Vest is a home run for Icon. It is quicker and easier to get in and out of than I had expected. It is comfortable and breathable - although it still raises your body temp on warm days (duh).

Great product - good value - would recommend. I bought this after trying a Dainese Safety Jacket which I found restrictive for everyday use and long rides. I am 6 foot tall - 180lbs - I seem to be right on the line of the 2 sizes so I went with the XL which is just a bit to big but not bothersome at all. I have used this vest in all weather and it is very comfortable under my leather jacket - (even with the foam shoulder pads in). Does get a little warm in 90+ degree weather (what doesn’t?) – up

This field armor works great with a sports bike. I bought it specifically to have some protection in the summer without having to wear a jacket. Its low profile works great under any of my clothes. I wear it under shirts, jackets, whatever, and it's totally invisible.
It fits very snug, but is not uncomfortable. Makes me feel very secure!

Icon's Field Armor
I have the XL size because I am 6ft. tall. The fit couldn't be better for Me. I Ride a GL1800 Gold Wing, with a back rest on the seat. I find I can feel the support against the back rest, but it is not uncomfortable. There is no restriction in bending or getting on or off the Wing. It should work in a sport Bike position with no problem. The fit is real good under all my Jackets with armor. It looks like it will be hot to wear in hot weather.
