Not Pleased
I'm a year-round motorcyclist. For 4 months of the year I drive 30 minutes in weather that is below or near freezing. Something to deflect the cutting wind and rain was definitely needed. This one was not a good physical fit for me. I'm 6'4" and ordered the appropriate size, but it was too tight around my chin, lips and mouth. Everything else was comfortable. I especially liked the draping, which was great when tucked in my jacket. I sold the balaclava to a friend who rides and is much smaller and shorter than I. He mentioned that the fabric is so air tight that it restricts his ability to breathe comfortably. I ended up going with a $13 balaclava and could not be more pleased than I was with this one.

River Road - Windproof Balaclava
Given as a gift the wearer wore it snowmobiling in sub-zero weather and experienced great comfort, mainly from the windproof quality. A must for sledding!

It works
I was afraid this wouldn't work, but it does! Completely blocks the wind off of my neck. I wear a full face helmet and I rode to work when the temperature was in the 30s with no problem. I can't even tell I'm wearing it. Very comfortable and effective.

Great protection.
In the spring and fall I use this under my Miglia modular helmet in the cold mornings and it keeps my neck and face warm. It is such a great wind block. Another reviewer said he can’t breathe right, but all you have to do is drop it down over your nose. I highly recommend this product.

warm
It does keep the wind off your chin/neck, but it is a little tight on the nose and a little difficult to breath through but better than having a frozen chin.

good but hurts
I rode with this to the North Carolina last week and it keeps the wind off of you for sure but there is a seam that runs right down the middle of my ears and hurts like crazy. Could be because I had another neck gator thing on under it as well but definitely makes the ears feel like they are between a pair of pliers. You would think they could stitch it somewhere else but other than that not a bad product

Balaclava
Good buy. I ride to work early in the morning. It’s early Oct. in Northern Ca, and the weather is around 45-50 degrees. Definitely keeps me comfortable for my 45 min commute.

Cheaply made and poorly designed
I don't get why the breathable material doesn't extend further down your mouth. If you don't pull it under your nose you can not breathe in this thing at all.

hard to breath
It keeps my neck warm, but I had trouble breathing through it. I had to modify it so my big nose would fit.

Good for winter riding...
The River Road - Windproof Balaclava is a great piece of winter riding equipment. I've ridden in temps as low as 25 so far this year, and my neck and face didn't get cold once. It's not the most comfortable balaclava out there, but it's definitely tolerable. Overall I give this 4 out of 5.

No More Frozen Chin
Excellent gear for the winter rider. Well constructed and designed. Only minor downside is that the nose panel is a little hard to breathe through, but I just tuck it below the nose and roll. The best thing? I can ride for hours and hours without my chin turning blue and going numb! Wish I'd had one last year.

Keeps the neck warm
Works well for the neck - no help for the head.

Warm Gloves!
These are among the rare gloves that will actually keep your hands warm in COLD weather. I've used them in 35-degree weather @ 70 mph already, and they kept my hands warm. As with all winter gloves, you lose some of the dexterity on the throttle/brake/clutch, but that is to be expected.

Windproof Balaclava
I purchased to keep chill wind off my neck. I have a full face helmet and high collar leather coat, but at speed on cold days < 55F (I try to keep riding as late into the season as I can, down into the 20s and 30s) the wind would always get on my neck and chin, even with scarf. The balaclava eliminates this. Only complaint I have is that it covers my mouth/lips, which begin to accumulate condensed moisture. Would prefer mouth uncovered. I will probably fix this w/ scissors.

Windproof Balaclava
This was a great invention because it covers my neck where my riding jacket doesn't. It took me awhile to get used to having my nose covered because I tend to be claustrophobic. My husband, daughter, and I all have this balaclava which keeps us somewhat comfortable during cold and windy rides.

River Road Windproof Balaclava
Great product to use in cold weather. Protects great in below freezing temp. In Texas we aren't used to that type of weather and it worked wonders.

Windproof Balaclava
The top part can be a little chilly if you have a modular helmet or an open face helmet.
The bottom portion is very nice though. It keeps all that cold air from going down your collar thus keeping you a bit warmer & more comfortable.

River Road Windproof Balaclava
This is absolutely necessary gear for cold weather riding as every jacket has a cold spot around the neck. It is also very easy to fold and store in the helmet along with the gloves. Might be uncomfortable though if you have a big nose because it doesn't really stretch in that area. I have a medium-sized nose and it took awhile to get used to.

River Road Windproof Balaclava
I ride 9 miles one way to work 4-5 times a week as long as it's not too windy or icy weather. With a full face helmet it’s a very comfortable fit, keeps the cold wind off my neck, and yes, it does not protect much of the nose. The tight fit and material allows when I exhale for the warm air to flow back around my whole neck helping keep it warm. Great product.

Good balaclava
The idea is very good: a windproof collar combined with a coolmax top. I ride almost everyday approx. 35 miles from New Jersey to NYC, and this balaclava has become an essential part of my equipment.
The one size fits all has a shortcoming. It can become uncomfortable during long rides, especially if you want to cover the nose. The upper part lacks elasticity.

Balaclava
Fits close and still gives great visibility. A little breezy on the top if you are wearing a turtle shell helmet, but an easy fix if needed. All in all great for cold weather rides!!!

balaclava -river road
All in all, a very useful piece of gear for cold weather riding. The hood definitely blocks the wind and it's very comfortable on my head. KEEP IN MIND; THIS DOES NOT PROTECT YOUR NOSE! This hood is a must have for those of us trying to squeeze in those last good days before snow fall.

Very firm fit. Uncomfortable on long rides, does an EXCELLENT job of keeping out the cold. Beware if you have a large head!

claustrophobic but comfortable...
Nice fit, good visibility. Nice piece, I keep it rolled up in my saddlebags in case the temperature drops too low for comfort...a very useful and affordable addition to your arsenal.
