Craig Jackson,  MO Yep.. It's a chain The nice thing about this brand (not for sure if other brands do it also) is the gap plates that are included to help install the side plates. They keep you from pressing them on too tight and gives you the perfect spacing. I'll see how the durability is in about 20K miles.....
