Icon Alliance SSR Solid Helmet

In a photo the Alliance SSR may look like last year's Alliance SS but it's really a new helmet! The SSR has an all new removable washable liner that is made of Icon's exclusive moisture wicking liner material called Hydra Dry. This, ultra comfortable, Hydra Dry material wicks sweat away from the rider keeping them cooler and dryer. It also evaporates out this moisture twice as fast as previous materials so when you put your helmet back on after a hot ride it won't be like putting a wet, sweaty sponge on your head.

All Alliance SSR helmets come with Icon's Fog-Free shield and our quick release mechanism that has been noted as an industry leader is ease of use and durability. The shell of the Alliance SSR is the same injection molded polycarbonate/ABS blend that is has been in the past although upgraded over the original Alliance by passing the Snell M2005 standard as well as DOT. This shell features two Supervents that produce great venting but maintain a streamlined shape.

Nick Phoenix,  AZ Flawless lid In 105 degree weather this thing feels great, no pressure spots for me and the cooling is nice, at lower speed open the shield to the first little notch at times to get more air but it’s not bothersome. It’s an inexpensive helm so the features are lacking, but honestly I really don't care.

Val WLA,  CA Nice I really like this helmet. It fits great and has awesome ventilation. The anti-fog windshield has exceeded my expectations. It isn't as heavy as I expected it to be. I rode around for about 2 hours today and didn't get tired. One little thing I don't like, is the air vents on the top. They are held down with sticky glue and can snag easily if you're not careful. But, good helmet all around.

Michael Dallas,  TX Great helmet for the price This is my first helmet so I don't have any thing else to rate it with, but the helmet fits good although as some said the cheek pad is a little too firm and might cause some comfort issues. The helmet is a bit on the heavy side so it would get some getting used too. But other then that this helmet is great. Hasn’t had any fogging yet.

Dan southfield,  MI Overall good I just finished a cross country trip with this helmet, about 4000 miles over 10 days through temps ranging from 50 degrees to 100+ degrees. Overall, this helmet is great. The fit is fantastic, of course that will depend on your head. The one thing I found about the description though: Icon says you can replace the pads to customize the fit but that is only if you want to make the helmet smaller from a medium or larger from a large. The hydra dry liner is great. I had some sweat going as the temps approached triple digits, but not bad and the helmet dried quickly. The only complaint that I have is the venting system. I see almost no difference between open vents and closed vents. I would definitely say this is a great value of a helmet at $140 bucks but if you have more to spend or you are looking to upgrade your helmet I would say keep looking.

Doug Asheville,  NC Great helmet. So I do not have much experience since this is my first helmet. But I did borrow one for the MSF class (a Nolan) and tried on everything in my local store. The Icon just fit the best for me. I ordered from MS since my local store wanted $239 and MS is just $139. I really like the new Hydra Dry lining. Very soft and comfortable and no sweat on 85 degree day so far.

Kenneth Carr Ellenville,  NY Great Helmet, but... This is a great helmet and comfortable to wear... once you get it on. I got an XXL and once I get it on its real comfortable, however, getting it on is a challenge. The opening seems small for an XXL and I have to really pull on the sides of the helmet to get my head in. It’s so comfortable to wear, I will put up with it, but it is a little painful to get into.
